HELP PLEASE!! New Batt+ New H.O. ALT= WORSE DIMMING pics included

I'm with Squeak, you really need to have both your battery and alternator tested properly. It sure sounds like you have a bad alternator if it would still dim more than the stock configuration at a high idle.

 
I'm running 2500wrms off a stock bat, big 3, 0/1 gauge run from stock 110a alternator to rear bat and get no dimming. Something must be wrong with your bat or alternator.

 
someone PLEASE help me...this is soooo frusterating... Got all this work done the 2 weeks i've been out for surgery..today is the first time I have got in my car since then...hoping to get in a car thats a LITTLE louder, and no more dimming....and this is the sht. i get
What brand alt is it? Where did it come from?

oh really....a 180 amp alt is fine for 3000 watts, christ almighty i ran 2000+ off a stock 85 amp alt with the big 3 and a yellow top with no dimming
Then I highly doubt you were getting 2000 watts then

I=P/VI=3000watt/14V=214amps

you need an alt that can handle 200+amps MORE than the car itself requires.
Ever heard of efficiency? or is the mm3000.1 100% efficient?

nice try....the amp doesn't make any where 3000 watts on music
Got test results? I got ~4kw out of mine @ 2.8 ohms

Did you load test it, or just put a DMM on it? A battery might show a good voltage with a DMM but not operate correctly when under load.
First thing I would do is have both the alt and battery properly tested to verify both are in proper working order.
x2, but most places who test alts/batts have no idea what they are doing...

 
stock alt, just re-wound stater, upgraded diodes....guy told me they would upgrade everything it needed to handle a bigger load. I only found 1 place that could give me a NEW alt, and he said it would only be 180A anyways... I think it was Ohio Generators. AND it was like $100-150 more

 
im hoping to God its the alt...even though it will mean i need to pay to get it un-installed, re-installed AGAIN...and lose my car for ANOTHER week or so.

cause if its the batt im F-ed.. I just got the battery cable ends changed to fit this new battery.

 
takes a week to take the Alt. out.. bring it to the place that has to send it out to IN. to get it upgraded.. takes them a few days to get to it.. they have to ship it back, then I need to find time to get it put back in.....

UPDATE: Anyways.. I got everything installed.. The Alt tested at 14.8... Held 14.5-6 under load....

Guy at the shop said the Battery even tested at 14.2 under load, BUTTTTTTT... the lights are still dimming really bad...so that doesnt make sence AT ALL!

Im pretty sure the battery was a 550CA Deep Cycle.. figured it would be better than my stock, (which is 850CCA).. but its not deep cycle...

SO, I am going to buy an Optima BlueTop Today at Costco for 155 bucks NEW. Its the D34 model.. rated at like 860CCA, and 750CA..so that should hopefully do the trick
