I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab and i have 2 12 inch Pioneer Shallow Mounts TS-SW301 with 250 Nominal Watt. They are both in a relativley Large box i dont know the dimensions i havent done the measurements. THe box sits on my seats i dont care about my passengers. The bass sounds amazing but on certain songs this Smell comes out. Oh Btw I have a Kicker ZX400.1 Mono CHannel Amp, 200 Watts RMS x 1 at 4 Ohms, 400 Watts RMS x 1 at 2 Ohms. Anyways back to the topic my Amp get really really hot which i hear is normal but idk it feels to hot to touch i dont know if im clipping my amp or not. The Smell comes from the subs and i dont believe its glue because the smell comes on certain songs. Any help would be Appreciated. Thanks,

My gain is pretty much off on the amp.

I had this custom made box that fit right under my seats with 2 12 inch MTX Jackhammers and it didnt smell.

Could it be that the Shallow Mount Subs are in to big of a box?

Subs in an over-sized box do not heat up and smell because of the excess volume. Nor will this cause the amp to get hot. Check your gain, crossover and your sub out setting on the head unit. Something is causing this problem. Are they wired at 1ohm perhaps? If the amp isn't 1ohm stable this will give you an overheating issue. Is it going into protect mode? Is there a sub-sonic setting on the amp, and what is it at?
