Help pick new subs

The guys who did the tests are some of the most knowledgeable people on the forum. They only tested it with 455w RMS, which is about 1/2 of the DIYMA's rated power handling IIRC, and it STILL fell short. Perhaps you should show some common sense.
Now, these issues may have been addressed without my knowledge. Best thing to do if considering the DIYMA woofer is to go over to their forum and PM npdang about it (I believe he designed it).

You're still missing the point, regardless of who tested, there will ALWAYS be that proverbial bad apple, it happens, that does NOT mean that all of them are that way.

I'm on DIYMA every day, and there are people running 800+ watts to them on a daily basis, without issues. Just because one turned out to be bad, obviously doens't mean they are all bad.

True. But if it failed with less than half of it's rated power, I'd still be wary. Like I said, the issues may have been addressed. I don't know. You don't have to convince me, because I'll never buy a single-4 ohm woofer that wants 1000w RMS. Give me dual 2 or 4 ohm coils, then maybe. I'd still like to talk to the designers for the simple fact that one DID go bad under relatively non-stressful conditions.

Just my $.02

I didn't read over the ROE test very well, but did it fail when being used in a ported box? I know for a fact that you aren't supposed to use the DIYMA in a ported enclosure, ever, it's meant for small sealed but anyway. I guess we don't see eye to there then, single 4ohm is not a down side to me at all, but then again my 2.2HV loves high impedance loads, he'll if it was a single 8ohm coil I'd be happy with that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PM Npdang, he designed it, I'm sure he can shed some light on the situation. It really is a well designed driver, but I think that test didn't reflect well on the fact that it's truly a small sealed box driver, and thats it.

Just to bring this back up...I read over the test they did...I can see why the driver failed, non-stressful isn't even applicable here.

Maybe it was because it had two SAZ-1500Ds strapped to it, running free air playing a 20hz tone...

No offense to you, and this isn't even really directed at you, but if anyone feels thats a good reflection of how this driver will perform on a daily basis, you need to get your brain checked.

I believe they did that to kill it after the actual tests were performed. Could be wrong. I know they were given the OK to kill a few of the woofers once the tests were done.
