Help on the SOLOX

2 Jl 13w7's authorized - $1500

2 jl 1000/1 authorized - $1500

=$3k

Kicker Solo X authorized - $1500

and I'm gonna guess that you cannot find something for under $1500 (authorized) that a.) puts out even the RMS of the Solo X b.) has the quality of the JL 1000/1

now take into account the batteries, alt, cap, box, etc... I'm gonna guess that would cost quite a bit more for the Solo X than the JL's..

The outcome is that you could either have 2 13w7's that are f*ckin loud as hell and sound good, all under warranty, or 1 Solo X that's loud as hell, sounds like shit, and isn't even covered by Kicker under any warranty (wonder why??)

Take it frome someone who has heard and messed with all three of the subs in question. 2 13w7s wouldnt even be close in spl. 2 re xxx would be close..but still pretty distant. BTW the solo x is only 1200 authorized, not 1500. But to get back to the original question. Just get 2 orion2500Ds goin to that sub. here are the spec recommendations from kicker 3 cube sealed (i dont know why you would do this), 5 cube ported (for a daily) and 10 cube ported (for pure spl). well for the price of the amps, alt, caps, huge box that you need for one Solo X, the total of 2 13w7's, 2 1000/1's a box and etc will add to prob less than that of the solo x and it's setup, so f*** you... and I'm sure 2 13w7's would be up there in spl with 1 solo x, and if not get 2 XXX 15's which would be louder....

man i wish u would come back when u knwo hwat ur talking about..... there is no way 2 13 w7's would be anywhere close to a solo X in SPL. 2 XXX's would be closer but still somewhere like 5 to 6 dbs behind the solo. i dont doubt that u did 152 with one XXX but u dont gain 10-12 Dbs jsut by adding another sub.

Have you heard both a pair of 13W7's as well as a SoloX?

I do believe Nate Munson switched his DD out with a W7 once and got very high numbers with it...the W7 is capable of more than you think.

5-6 db's behind the Solo X? What do you think a Solo X can hit? I know that 2 XXX 15's can hit 160db's and maybe a little more. I've seen one hit 158db's, it was being sent around 3000watts granted, and was in a ported box just over 6cuft, and this person is a real expert on installs and what not. Hell mine hit 154.2db's Lin X being sent roughly 2600watts in 5cuft ported, and this is a daily driving setup (probably a little too much). I'm sure if I worked on it a little more, got a little bigger box, I could pick up another db or two.. When pushed they really put out outstanding numbers. I've never heard a Solo X, but I've talked to a half dozen people or so that've heard one. I don't doubt their SPL potential, but I just think 2 XXX 15"s are fully capable in getting atleast within 1-2db's of one.

I dont konw about 2 XXXs reaching 160. Im sure its possible, but probably with 12 cube box and 8K. Definately unlikely in a daily set up. But anyways, again we have strayed off topic from the original question because everyone gets into a pissing match. Hey snova, you know what he ended up hitting with that 10w7?

I purchased a Solo, and should be arriving here in 1-3 days. What amps should i use to power the beast, and how many. Also, what preference box does anyone suggest, and how many Cu. Ft'? Thanks'

ur right we strayed off from the topic too much..... i may have been wrong because i have never actaully played with a solo x personaly but have seen cars with them installed.... now the 2 13 w7's i have seen..... in 4 cuft tuned to like 40 hz i didnt think it sounded near as loud as the solo. but if i was u and i had unlimited funds i would put the sub in a 6 cuft box tuned to like 38 hz (ur not gonna get much sq out of it no matter how u tune it) and power it with earthquake D4 .... i know these are hard to come by but u can find them at nexxon.com

Sir, in no way shape or form do I believe you. The ONLY 154 I have heard of with a XXX type sub is Donn's SeXXX doing 154 on a linX, not a XXX, and Donn is the master of boxes, and I would put both my subs on the line to say he knows his shit when it comes to boxes.

In no way shall I ever believe without proof that your daily setup hit 154.2 in 5 cubes on a linX. To put that into perspective, you have only 600 more watts than me,and my MT hit 148.3 on the toolbox with a 30hz tuning and 8cubes, we just swapped it out from the XXX. People at finals were running 8 amps and not even pulling 150 so how do you expect me to believe you broke 154.2? If you have seen one hit 158 then I bet loyd's must hit 175 or so, because he had his 4 d2's in a wall and they broke about 155(i think)-160 on a linX. Personally I think either 1.You are full of crap. 2.The mic isnt a linX 3.It needs to be calibrated like a fat kid loves chocolate.

That 154 was on some dude's mic that everybody hates...I forget who but over on the East Coast, there is this one linX that EVERYBODY dreads to meter on. The reason I doubt his score so highly is because Dustin was only about 3-4 db off on a linX in his, and all of his friends car's,except for Loyd's who was 6db off(who knows why) was 3-4db off as well,so I take my meter to be pretty dam* accurate.

The ONLY way I could fathom such a high SPL score was if he had a crx,civic hatchback, or a Rav4. Yes, a Rav4. 2 12 L7's with 500w TOTAL in a sealed box hit 145 on my mic, while a 18XXX in 8 cube ported to 30hz hit 146... Maybe I should throw the MT in the Rav4....

yes i would like a proof of score. as tyler said, loyd could probably squeeze a 154 out with 1 XXX and that's an iffy thing. with even 2500rms that's still going to be hard unless you are in a CRX then i'd believe it.

well, I can afford a solox, but I wouldn't know how to supply enough current, nor have enough amp power.

Simply put, I can afford a solox. However, I can't find any shipper to send the bloody cement block over.
