help on sub sq

k sometimes i dont like it when my sub plays all the low notes on songs cuz it sounds bad...is there ne way i can set nething the amp so i have more of a punch of bass than catching all the low notes...(u guys get what i mean)...i just want the sub to sound clean..and compliment the speakers...not make it overpowering...

right now my 12" type r is in a 30hz ported box...lpf at 80hz and ssf at 15hz

turn your subsonic filter up in freq some,set your sub feq to 125 if you have that option...get another box, get better midbass components, why in the world wouldnt you want it to play low notes, thats what the R is best @!! sounds like the R is not for you, get an AUDIOBAHN if you dont want lows, or bass for that matter.... just noise

well i listen to all types of music and sometimes the whatever the sub catches it sounds like crap..it may not be exactly the lows...im still a noob...i just want punch u know...

maybe ill look into audiobahn...haha...

Audiobahns tend to get fairly low, and get loud as well, they just have low build quality and low SQ. If you are going to bash something, know about it first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And TurnStylez... Turn your SSF up to at LEAST 25Hz. In a 30Hz box, you are probably bottoming out that Type R with those low tones, which can easily blow a sub.

And if it is over powering the interior speakers, turn the gain down a bit...

hey thanks phat...but some say the ssf should be half oh what u tune ur box...like 3rd or sumthin..i forgot...

will setting it to 25hz help?

It will prevent the sub from playing those LOW tones, the bad SQ you are hearing could be due to the sub bottoming out.

And you put the SSF one half OCTAVE lower than your box tuning, not half of the total frequency...

Your LPF is fine, and as for more "punch", you would need to look into a new enclosure for that one, tuning will not help.

It wont be "bad", youll just lose low end extension.
