help on finding subs

What does everyone think on the Cerwin Vega 10 " vmaxx sub? I listened to a ported dual sub box (medium size) that was running these. They sounded nice and tight which is what I like and was wondering if they were in a smaller sealed box if they would sound a little tighter. The audio store we have carry Kicker, Cerwin Vega, Cadence, JBL, Power Bass, MTX and some Pioneer. I also listed to a JBLs (svc) in the same vented box and the CV had a smoother sound. Any recommendation on the above listed? Looking for tight bass. How would the Kicker cvr compare to the Cerwins? Help would be great.

I wouldn't buy any of those lines, and i wouldn't buy a prefab box either.......

you should look at the funky pup line, they are by far the best sub ever.

Again, you don't know anything, do you sweetie? To the OP, I would check out the Sundown SA12s, DC Audio LVL 3s, AQ SDC2.5, or possibly a SSA Icon. Most of these are nicer entry level subs, and will blow any of the brands you listed out of the water. What are you looking to achieve, how much power do you have to play with, and what kind of vehicle?

That would help wouldn't it. It will be in a Suzuki XL-7 running an Eclipse HU, big belle with Mclass speakers. I listen to mainly rock. Bands from Beatles, Police to AC/DC, Rise Against, Alice in Chains etc. I want solid tight bass that doesn't reverberate and drowns everything else out. I want it to fill the void. When the drum hits I want to HEAR it. I also value cargo room so I don't want a huge box. My thought is I would rather have more than enough and back it off than not have enough. I want to keep a budget of about $300 max. My goal is not to build a comp system but something that sounds great and not just thrown together. BTW thanks for the quick replies

AudioQue Sdc.2.5 , good for rocknroll. Build or have someone build you a box tuned in the range of 35-40 hz, for that punch.

To the OP, If you want to hear it, and feel it, check out the DC LVL3s. Get low, and loud. There is a 15" DC LVL 3 for sale for $150 shipped I think, or you could get a LVL 4 for that price range. If you want an all around beat, tune to 35-40hz like douchebag said, or tune 30-35hz for the lows. Also, with that price range, a Sundown Nightshade could POSSIBLY be had if you look around long enough.
