help on enclosure for single 15 in 02 escape, spl

im using a single 15 inch, and this will be my first one woofer build. im not sure on how i want to face the sub and port, so any help is appreciated on that. also, any input on port area to use would be great. the sub has an fs of 34, and i plan to tune at about 40, and consistently my car peaks at around 44 even with box changes (of course no wall) etc. this will be a mainly spl oriented box, and mostly for meca competition. ive used subs up, port to side and wasnt great. sub and port up was better, but still not great. thinking about sub up and port back, possibly sub to side, port back etc. lots of ideas, just dont know if anyone has some personal experience at least close to this vehicle. also, i can use either an aero port design or slot port. i can probably have an aero port as large as 12 inches in diameter, so whatever people think may work best, i can accomodate. wattage will be about 4600 watts. with my batteries and amps in place, i have the following space to work with: 40 wide, 19 deep, and about 19 high. thanks in advance for any help!

The first things I'd try are sub up/port back and both back. With the 19" depth does that allow for any space between the box and hatch?

Yes it still allows about a five or six inch clearance to the hatch

I'd say sub up and port back then, classic CRX style box.

I rebuilt my battery and amp rack today. I now have 26 inches of depth 26 inches wide and 18 inches high. This gives me the option to not have to bend s port
