help on box for kicker cvr 12"

ok i just got my a kicker cvr 2003 model 12"....i want to build my own box and i need a little help. well alot of help. im new to this, im only 15 so bear with me..i want a lot of bass so which will be better, a ported or sealed box? alsohow think of mdf wood would be best to use, i was thinking about going 3/4, is that good enough?

3/4mdf is perfect. ported/vented= loud. sealed= sound quality. what is it going in and how much room do you have to work with?

your on the right track with the MDF i would go ported. get me some dimensions and i can easily design something for you.

also dont pay attention to the sealed sound quality ported loud.... ported can easily sound just as good as sealed. thats just beginners myths.

well its going to be in the back of an extened cab truck, a 93' chevy silverado to be exact, i can use all of the backseat for all i care for lol

2.25cu + port max... should fit easily back there with room to spare

allright, no how do i figure out the size of the port and everything else? the how many cubic feet and stuff? remeber im only 15 and im new to this game so bear with me

i found this site as a helpfull cheat-sheet on some of the calculations. take some measurements from your truck, wherever you want to put the box, and start with a box with 3cu. internal, to make it easy. i'll give you the specs on the slotted vent- 37.5"sq. port opening area (h x w) and 24" deapth. it will subtract .75cu from the internal box volume to make it 2.25'^3..... of course, this could also make for a good extra credit project in math.....
