Help on a system!

measure height x width x depth Most likely you'll just have a sealed box for basic sound quality. You are not gonna get any impressive results unless its a properly designed ported. Most of the stuff that sounds too good to be true, is too good to be true. The link to the sub you found doesnt work. What amp model are you planning to get?

The height is 9 1/2 so is the width. Depth is around 6 1/2 -7"

The subs I had linked were Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 Punch P3 DVC 4-Ohm 10-Inch 500-Watt RMS 1000 Watts Peak Subwoofer

$122.00 each.

that box is extremely tiny you have .2 cubic feet of usable airspace and thats not subtracting the space the subwoofer takes up. Not even enough space for a 6.5" sub, needless to say nothing will sound good in that. Toss that box and build a proper one.

Length from one end of the seat to the other was 57" from the floor to the bottom of the seat it was 7"-7 1/2" an the width was 19" - 20" found these subs. They have great reviews. Thinking of getting 2 of these. What kinda amp would go great with these? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004UFHXOC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
need pics, these measurements you took are confusing. how high can the seat be lifted and how wide and deep can you go?

Well I went to 4 different places to get estimates for everything. I guess I was wrong about the measurements. Only 1 out of the 4 places told me I needed a better box. But I'm torn between 2 subs. The RF P3 10"s or the Mew jl audio w1. I don't remember the full model name but he said they were like 160 or so a piece. Any thoughts on those subs?

well what are you putting in that box? if a shop is trying to get a sale they'll put whatever into whatever box. the one that told you the box is small is probably the only shop trying to help you.

most shops are run by idiot @holes that will do anything for a sale. Shops that will be honest with you and not fk you up the @ss are rare.

Its not rocket science man, a 10 inch sub needs .5 to 1 cubic feet in a sealed box AFTER subtracting the wood thickness and the space the sub takes up. The dimensions you listed 9.5 width x 9.5 height at 7 depth, you have to subtract the thickness if the wood, so if its made of 3/4 mdf, you subtract 1.5 from each leaving you with 8 x 8 x 5.5 =352 then divide by 1728 which is how you get cubic feet and it comes out to be .203 cubic feet. The subs normally take up anywhere from .04 to .09 cubic feet for a small sub, so you'll have to subtract that too. You are at 1/10th of the space requirement for proper airspace for a sub.

Again, junk box, just kuz its free doesn't mean its the best choice. The box is EVERYTHING in a subwoofer setup. How loud or good you sound is determined by how good your box design is. You can have a 5000 dollar woofer in a crappy box and you'll sound like you have flea market subs. Whereas you can have a flea market sub in a proper box and you'll destroy most setups out there with subs in pre-made boxes.

I'll be getting a new box then. Lol sorry for being an idiot guys. I can tell some of you are frustrated with me. I was trying to to keep the cost low but I guess it can't be helped. Thank you all so much for the help. I appreciate all of it. That fox box looks beautiful.

Those sd subs look awesome. What kinda amp would you suggest for it? Will most likely be getting those and that fox box.
whats the budget for the amps?

http://www.soundqubed.com/Q1-1200D-Amplifier_p_30.html Quality amps, they are having a tax sale atm

http://www.carstereogiant.com/product-p/threatcon-1800.1d.htm this is a great choice too.

and here are the budget amps, not the best but they are cheap and work well for what they are. Leaves you some money for electrical upgrades like a big 3 kit (google "the big 3 upgrade" up.)

Well with the set up the installer had suggested I was ready to cough up $900. So 329 for the subs and 180 for the box. That's 509 I still need the amp + installation. 200-250ish?
