Help on a system!

Audio pros! I need some of your wisdom. I'm thinking of getting 2 12" subwoofers for my 07 f-150 supercrew cab fx4. Though I'm an idiot when it comes to all this. I want something that sounds good and is pretty cheap. I know I'm going to need a seat lift kit to get a custom box put under the seat with a 12" sub box. Should I go ported or sealed? I might go for 10" subs as well. I know I need the amp, the woofers(lol) and the box and cables. Anything I might be missing? Truck came with some audiophile system. I guess the door speakers? Any way to check if they are stock or upgraded? I have a 600-700 budget. Also can you give me an estimate of what it's going to cost? Plan to upgrade later. Just wanting to start slow and build my way up.

Sorry for all the trouble. I tried doing the research on my own with no luck.

ported = bigger box

sealed = smaller box.

you like loud low bass? or are you more of a sound quality type of sound? ported will give you loud low end bass while sealed will give you bass that thumps and is controllable.

a buddy had a dodge ram with 1 pioneer premier and it was pretty nice.

you can certainly find some option for that budget.

pioneer

ab

polk

mb quart

audiopipe

kicker

can get 2 subs from those brands for under 300 i would say

obviously your not wanting to get into something crazy

hifonics

mb quart

ab

soundstream

mtx

pioneer

are some decent amps you could get to pair up with the above subs and certainly wont break your budget

probably $40 in wiring and connectors .

an im waiting for someone to chime in about how ***** these brands are, but your not trying to compete and these are all decent stuff to get a sound you would like.

Thanks man. It all new to me lol but I think sealed sounds more like what I'm looking for. Thanks for explaining. Quick question. If I were to get let say 2 500 watt (each) subs would I need a 1100 watt amp? Is that kinda how it works?

ported can give you good thump and sound excellent if the box is designed properly and you dont cheap out by buying a crappy ebay/amazon box. You are just wasting output possibilities going sealed with certain subs. Some will work better in ported than sealed and vice versa.

To know whats the best subs for your setup, let us know how much space you have for the enclosure in terms of Length x Width x Height.

Well guys I got the custom box that was made for my truck from the previous owner. My mom is the finance director at a car dealer ship and the guy walked in and she told him I was going to get a box and the guy said he had had one made for it and gave it to her. But I don't know it the box is for 10" subs or 12". How could I check?

Middle top to bottom is 9-9 1/2 I'm guessing 10" sub box. Lol I knew to measure it I just didn't know if there was a certain way to measure it.
