Help Needed - Unit not playing thru speakers

I currently have a JVC head unit in my Jeep and the sound completely cut off while I was driving yesterday. I have an amp and sub and the music stopped playing thru the speakers and the sub stopped hitting. All I can hear is very faint audio with no bass whatsoever from one of the tiny speakers in the front of my dash. Nothing from the other 4 speakers. It sounds like I am listening to a hand-held radio. This happened to me before with an Alpine unit that I had for 5+ years and I was told to replace the deck and it should be OK. I replaced the deck in September and had no problems until yesterday. Can anyone tell me why this happened? Is it the deck or my car or wiring? If anyone can help shed some light on this for me it would be much appreciated.
