Help Needed - Amp Math

Hey guys, I'm putting together my first system in my new car and I've recently discovered that I am completely dumb when it comes to figuring out what kind of amp I'm going to need. I figure this is the best place to go as it seems people in shops might just try to steer you towards the most expensive option they can sell you. So I guess the best way is to just tell you what I'm trying to match.

(2) 10" Rockford Fosgate Subs [R1 Series]

RMS: 150W

Peak: 300W

Impedance: 4 ohm

Voice Coil: 1.5" (6 Layer)

Can anyone tell me what kind of amp I need? As far as channel, power, etc. to properly fuel the two 10" subs? I've tried to figure it out myself using guides online but I've only confused myself. I'll greatly appreciate any help you can offer. I tried to include any information I thought would be relevant/required but if you need anything else I can provide more.

Also, didn't include this in the OP but what price range am I looking at and what's the best method of purchasing? Is it better to buy from the shop once I know what I need or is it cool to shop around on Amazon/eBay/pawn shops/etc. to try to find a good deal?

Phoenix Gold SX 600.1 Monoblock Amplifier

Would vouch for this. These are well built amps, Zed designed, and tiny footprint. Vertex is also a contributing member on this forum.

Rockford, Alpine, kicker, and JBL will make some good offerings in the 500-600W range for roughly the same money if you're looking for more widely available brand names.

You have lots of options, but keep in mind a lot of stuff in the low power low price department is absolute flea market junk. You may do well buying used if you stick to solid brands, but there should be loads of options. Expect great quality for 200$ ish price range, you can probably get something similar tier used for 125-150 I'd expect.

You can probably get the job done for 100$ or a little less but when you're getting low end gear quality/performance will be hit or miss as will be reliability and resale value will be poor (or nothing if it fails prematurely).

Thanks for the help. I was told at the place that's going to set it all up for me that they have an amp that could work for me for $249 and that seemed really high for me. But without knowing exactly what I needed as far as number of channels, power, etc. I couldn't really say if I was being ripped off or not.

What amp? If they're going to hook it up for you, they may be charging you 100$ for labor and materials which I suspect isn't way out of line.

Says "out of stock" on that link by the way. Oh, and are there any car audio meets/events in northern/central FL over the next month?

They didn't say what amp it was, I should have asked but I was getting my windows tinted at the time so it was just a mention. I told them I was going to buy the head unit, door speakers, amp, subs, and box and let them hook it up but I didn't know what amp I needed. He asked what subs I was powering and then he said he had an amp that could work for $249. So I don't think that was labor inclusive.

Well ****. Amazon might have them. We have meets every Saturday at sonic at Jax beaches. We used to do a 904s loudest meet twice a month and meter everyone but everyone is re building right now.

Two 4 ohm single voice coil woofers wired together will make a 2ohm load. So you want an amp that is 2 ohm stable. RMS rating is 150 each so 300 RMS at 2ohms. But after voltage drop and impedance rise you want to have some power to compensate.
