I recently purchased a VGA 320.4 amp on ebay and have it powering 2 Alpine type r comps. Being that I am a complete newb, could someone tell me whether or not the remaining channels on the amp would be enough to power 1 Alpine 10" type r sub? Also, I noticed there is a 2 ohm and a 4 ohm model of this sub...which one would do me best? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Any help would be appreciated

4 X 80 RMS 4 Ohm

4 X 160 RMS 2 Ohm

2 X 320 RMS 4 Ohm

im guessing get the 4ohm or 2 ohm id get the 2 ohm though it would power it but it wouldnt get that loud would add decent bass though

Power one, yes. power one well, no.

Same question as the original, but replace the VGA 320.4 with a VGA 500.4

How do you think that would work out?

btw Can someone explain how to figure this out myself so I don't have to bother you wonderful people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You see, you compare the RMS of each to each other and hopefully, they're close, and you take the impedance of each and hope they match or see if they can be bridged to match. most basic way i can explain it. the 500.4 would work much better but i still think you might be happier with 2 amps imo.

What would you suggest then? One mono amp for the sub, and then a 2 channel amp for my comps?

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M

That is correct. I like these as they are twisted pair and the RCA ends are thick and grip quite nicely...
