help me with a remote for amp.

I have a new grand cherokee with a factory Nav Radio/Boston Acoustic system in it that is going to stay. I am putting in a sub and amp and I need a remote for it. What to do?

Just tap off of the switched +12V from the deck, or find a switch +12V in the back of your Jeep.

Run a wire from your battery to a switch and one from the switch to your remote turn-on...

my jeep has a factory amp and power antenna so you could just tap into that. also tap into the accessory wire. this maybe a dumb question but couldn't he run a remote wire directly from his battery and wire in a toggle switch to shut the amp on and off? i know it wouldn't be easiest but for shits and giggles would that be possible?

Well I would like to tap into my 12v switch that goes to the deck but I am unsure of witch one that would be. I would guess it would be red. I have a meter and some other equipment that might help me to determine it without cutting any wires.

As far as the signal I am planning on getting a nice LOC

I just thought of a couple of things. I have a DVD player in the center console for the rear seat. Is it possible that it will have some sort of remote that turns on with the vehicle?

it's a 95 grand cherokee and the amp is under the left rear seat. the lead wire hooks into the stock headunit inside the dash.

Problem solved. I am the DVD remotes off of the HU. I will just tap into it which will be alot closer to were the amp will be. Now I will just have to tear into it and figure out which one it is

Just get a switch and put the off wire from the switch at were the end of the power wire meets with the amp and put the on wire to the remote part of the amp.
