help me with 1968 MGB setup

Here is a shot of my old MGB I had thought about building a wall in it...I may find a nicer one and try that one day...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

nice, Ive always thought those were neat little cars.

from what I understand it did have a "6 volt system" but it ran on 12 volts. 2 6 volt batts ran series. I dont understand exactly, its just what my dad told me, but its running 12 volt now

My father owned a 1962 MGA that he says had a "6-volt reverse polarity" system in it that he had to gut and redo with a normal 12-volt system. My understanding was all the old "Lucas" systems were this way. I guess that's not true. *shrug*

edit: I was pretty miffed when he gave that car away to my uncle, who immediately sold it.

Yeah my dad was telling me about the reverse polarity that was in his father's 62. that would have been a bish. not sure when they made the change though

1962 MGA=my dream car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

as for the original question...what do you plan to do with the car in the long run? most MG guys do NOT want an aftermarket stereo put in. if you plan on selling it keep that in mind. if its just for the fam', i still think you can fit kicks in. i could in my friends '70. :shrugs:

we dont plan on selling this car anytime soon.

do you have pics of the kicks?

anyone know of some good budget comps under or around $150?

I think I might run a hifonics zxi8006 5 channel amp to keep it simple

it does

RMS @ 2-Ohms: 4 x 110-Watts + 300-Watts x 1-ch

RMS @ 4-Ohms: 2 x 220-Watts + 200-Watts x 1-ch

so Ill have around 220 watts to work with

arent the rsds tweeters a little harsh? correct me if Im wrong. its just that he would want something nice and smoothe. and how do the 1508s sound? Im not concerned about output at all. just looking for something that sounds good

in a big 8 test the DD's had the best SQ out of several models of 8's tested a year or so ago....if you have a good eq in your deck...you can adjust the RSD's to where they have some decent sound...you'll want to use the -3 setting for them with that amount of power

FINALLY got the motor and transmission in today. doing more work tomorrow. should be on the road within a week or two.

need more suggestions on

headunit:

components (somewhat shallow):

subs that will do well off of 200w at 4ohm or 300w at 2ohm:

Im pretty set on the hifonics zxi8006 to keep it simple.

looking to keep the budget around $400 or less
