For the past couple of years my father has been building a 1968 mgb and now that we are about done with it, he said that I can be in charge of the audio going into it. The only problem is that this particular car did not come with any speakers in it so there is no place to mount them. There are holes for 6x9s in the back that the previous owner cut, but I dont know how well that would sound. I would like to run a decent set of components but he says that there will be NO cutting the door panels. As far as the substage, I was thinking that I could use a small 8 or 10 in the second battery spot behind the front seats. (car originally was ran off of 2 6volt batteries now we will use 1 12).

I need suggestions on what to do with the front stage. (where to put it or should I just use the spot for the 6x9s)

What components to run. (needs to be cheap and no harsh tweets)

What sub to run ( I was thinking maybe a sundown e8 but Im concerned about output. It doesnt need to be loud at all, just enough to give a good bottom end)

now for pics...

would you be able to make a set of kickpods for the front? Tell him to stop being a ***** and just start hacking up the doors..lol.

I was thinking about trying that, but I think that clutch + kickpod = fail

haha yeah I really want to, but I dont know if anything would fit in the door anyways. would have to be REALLY shallow

you could get some Critical Mass RS6 6.5's for the front doors or Kicks...they are very shallow mount.....and top notch SQ
yeah that would be nice, but he wants to keep it cheap. he would be just as happy with 6x9 coaxials in the rear and that be all.

Ask him if you can mount tweeters in the center console & aim the upward. You can find a set of comps that come with those 6x9 mounting adapters, or make your own. Not the most ideal locations but it would be something.

Yeah, thats the worst case scenario. Ive had my car where the front stage was underpowered and the rear stage was amped and it just didnt sound right.

If you can see the dark spot behind the headrest in the 2nd picture, thats where I would like to mount the tweets, but it would be right in the ear and Im guessing that wouldnt work so great
