i just got my new audiobahn 12001DT amp and i wanna install it!! but all i have is a 60 amp fuse.. and i know thats not enough, so what size fuse do i use?? in the manual it said to not use anything higher than 120 amp (thats the amount of amps added together from the internal fuses 4 x 30 amps each) and i cant find a 120 amp fuse.. only 150, or 100. now if i buy a 100 amp fuse, wont it blow the fuse too much??? help me!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

it depends how loud you have the volume and where the settings of your gain is to how many amps the amplifer will pull. go ahead and try the 100amp fuse if you have one, but otherwise go online and buy a 120amp one.

ok, well ty for the help lump hehe, oh one more thing.. is that fuse on my wire protecting my amp? or just my wires.. cause my amp has internal fuses.. what would happen if i ran it with no fuse

Say there was a short in your electrical system. The amplifer's onboard fuses will protect it from burning itself up, but it could send the fault back to your battery/alternator causing more burned out things in your entire car. if anything faults and its not fused from the battery it risks a big chance in wires melting. the amplifer would run without a fuse from the battery, but it would just endanger your vehicles electrical system and not the actual amplifer. some amplifers dont have onboard fuses and Require an external fuse right before it. only reason you need a fuse on your wires that handles the same amprage as your amplifers in use is so the wire can supply the amplifer with enough amp's as to not blow the fuse but still protect it from a short circuit if that were to happen. hope this clears everything up. :thumbsup
