Whats the benefit of a sub that needs 1000 to 2000 watts to perform at its best over one that only needs only 500 - 750 watts to get max performance? Is it gonna get much louder or sound much cleaner?

I have heard super expensive systems that have sucked and inexpensive systems that have blown me away. Why buy a sub that will require a expensive 1000 watt amp when u dont have too?

I hope you are expecting 20 different answers because thats what your going to get. I myself always stay around the 600 to 700wrms range since I dont need a super boomy system. A lot of people get huge amps because they have a few subs to run or because they like to over power the subs.

Extremely vague question....

Different people like different things... You can apply this question to clothes, cars, food, silverware, shoes, haircuts, computers, office supplies, and just about any other product.

say u have 2 subs that can each handle 1100 rms and u send 2200 rms to the pair u would like to think the 2 subs can and will be louder then 2 subs that are 600 rms and send 1200 to the pair. if they were 800 rms each they can get as loud as the subs that are seeing 2200 in the right box and if the volts are stayin up. alot of stuff comes in to play..

Doesnt overpowering the sub shorten its life??

Yes, it does shorten the life of the sub but a lot of people here are spl guys that say the typr r is under rated and it can handle more power so they give it around 900. I like to stay around rms rating myself.
