I was able to power up the unit. But I think you definitely need the 1-848-738-11 harness from Encompass to use the unit properly.
I wired 12V right from the battery putting a 15V mini fuse on the positive side. I was able to stick a CD in and the unit had power but now I am waiting on the other harness so the rest of unit functions and I can get the CD out!
I don't think you need to pay the 80 bux for the 1-848-736-11 power cord/harness. That is just a glorified 15 Amp fuse holder. Just get some 10 or 12 gauge wire, A 15 or 20 amp mini fuse and wire directly to your battery as the posting shows/describes.
