help me pick out an amp

havent bought an amp in years

looking for something to power two jbl gt120 12" svc 4ohm subs in a sealed box

the rms on these are 225 peak 1000 (yea right!!!!!)

looking to keep under 200.00

found these two so far and open to any suggestions

Avionixx AXA 440.4 from elementail around 165.00 2x 220 rms@ 4 ohm

HIFONICS ZEUS Z4400 ebay 2 x 200 rms @ 4 ohm

dont really know much except the avionixx has 3 yr warranty

From the two you mention, I would buy from Ben at Elemental, get the Avionixx.

I used to have some old JBL gt subs about 9 years ago. They were rated at 150w rms a peice and I fed them about 400wrms a peice from an old high current soundstream along with an epacenter. They were ported and tuned to about 40hz and pounded like no other to me at that time. Anyway what I am getting at is I fed them more then double the rated wattage for along time and to this day they are the only subs that took everything i gave them unlike all the other subs that always eventually failed.

directed has solid amps. wouldn't be a bad choice. what is it's rms rating at 2 ohms? if you go with the 1500D you got the extra power in case you decide to upgrade subs.

Rated Power @ 4 ohm is 425 x 1

Rated Power @ 2 ohm is 800 x 1

Rated Power @ 1 ohm is 1200 x 1

I wasnt recomending anything for I dont know anything about the newer JBL stuff. I was just saying dont be surprised if they are underrated. I know the ones I had I put through hell and back and they never give out. I sold them to a friend after several years and he used and abused them and then he sold them to another friend a year or two after that. I dont know what happened to them after that. The JBLs I had didnt have very good SQ but they were very efficiant and would pound pretty good in alot of different setups.

I really miss those subs

I understand but heck if they cant take a little more than what rms is then ill just get better subs after i smoke them (but I hope I dont)

anybody know anything about "thestereodirect" on ebay they have a lot of mtx refurb amps a decent prices just thought id throw that out there

well I said screw it and just bought a opti1000.1d amp refurb off of ebay

anybody suggest what breaker /fuse to put in frnt of this thing and will 4guage wire be big enough
