Help me pick out a digital camera

Well, first of all, different cameras meet different needs ...
You wouldn't want a Canon SD630 if you're taking wildlife pictures and you wouldn't want to take a Nikon D80 out for a night on the town ...

How are you going to be using the camera ?

could you explain?

this is the exact camera i was looking to get real soon and would like to take some quality 'wildlife' pics. scenery , landscapes , and such....

i just purchased an Olympus Stylus 710...7.1 megapixel for 269 i believe and i must say the clarity of these pics are AMAZING its a very functional little camera too its gets an A+ in my book..

example close up picture it took:

I was looking to mainly use it to take close up pics of enclosures. Getting some better quality pics for when I redo my website. Thats the most important thing I will be using it for.
Either Fuji f20 or f30 might be the one suited to you. They are said to take excellent pictures in close ups and lowlight settings. Just my $0.02 cents.

If your wanting to take close up shots, get something w/ a high optical zoom, not a high digital zoom. Also, get something around 5MP's but most everything comes that high now anyway.

The Canons always get great reviews through Consumer reports.

The A710 is nice and is on sale for roughly $279 at most elelctronic stores this week. The A550 is cheaper, $199 but does not have the high optical zoom or image stabalizer that the A710 does.

LOL...I just noticed that this was an old thread. Actually looking at the dates of threads ownz me.
