Help me out find a nice pair of bookshelf speakers**serious, pics**

I see your poit, but think about a car analogy.
Both a prius and a corvette are both nice cars...they are just used for different things (going from point a to point b)

Wouldn't some speakers be better geared for one function or another...

But I also see the point of...what is the difference between music in a game or movie vs standalone music...it's music either way.
Well the Prius and the Corvette aren't designed for the same thing. A Prius is designed to be very fuel economical. A corvette is designed to be very fast and handle well. Loudspeakers should be designed with the same set of essential goals. IMO, and others have this opinion too, loudspeakers should be designed for as exact as you can audio reproduction. I believe that a loudspeaker should add nor take away anything from the sound, and this is something that B&W builds on. Now don't get me wrong, I love B&W because sound and preform the best for me. But, that doesn't mean they are the best for everyone. But, source material shouldn't make any difference if the loudspeaker is designed properly. You might have to add a subwoofer for movies to get the full extent of the LFE track, but there are only a few loudspeakers that I can think of that you don't need to do that.

Holy man, dude, i don't know how to thank you, joetama.

I went ahead and listen a nice 30min of techno, salsa, r&b, hip hop, reggae with the B&W 685 powered by a Rega Brio 3 (http://www.rega.co.uk/index2.htm) and they sounded freakin good, loud crisp with nice bass on every song, I was impressed that was with 49rms to each side, they simply cant compare to mainstream compagnies... ! He quoted me 760$...... for 1 pair.... starting to think to wait and get these.

btw, how would you guys compare the Rega Brio 3 to a Parasound 2125 ?

also, I have an 18" havoc and 2 tc-10oem, I will build a sealed box for the room, should I go 2 10"? or 1 18"? wanted a ported box but itll end up too big and complicated

The 2125 isn't a Integrated Amplifier it is just an amplifier.

I'm not sure the price on that Rega but you should also look at this from Rotel if you are going to go that route...

Alright, now that I know what I am going to get, I'll start by building two 0.7cu.ft sealed enclosure for each TC-10oem in probably a week or so, will post worklog and all, stay tuned, also, I think I will carpet all black but any suggestion on the finishing would be appreciated.

Good to decide on the dual 10's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
You have a plate amp?

nG
no:(

ill power them with my car amplifier(zenon) and deep cycle with charger that I already have... will eventualy change that but not anytime soon, i'd rather invest in the parasound and 685 first:)
