Help me out find a nice pair of bookshelf speakers**serious, pics**

For 400 you have some SERIOUS room for improvement over what you have and what you are looking for...
feel me in then, what would you do if you had 400cash and need a nice sounding system, clear, strong/natural/warm mid-bass and crisp . Best for the buck. I already got subs to take care of sub-bass so that isn't a problem.

perfect, I found a dealer of B&W near my place, ill go and get a listen of these speakers and see how much they are selling them, looks like some serious quality stuff

thx alot ill let you people updated .

A lot of people rag on Manufactured Loudspeakers for their build quality and for having cheap components that you can buy yourself for half. But, B&W has an AWESOME build quality. They are very solid and last even when abused (I have some B&W DM330i which are 20 years old and they still sound amazing). They also build their own drivers and don't sell or use another manufactures drivers. The great thing about the new 600 Series 4 is that a lot of the technology in the 800 and 700 Series have been put to use. Such as the FST driver and the Nautilus loading...

They are going to sound a lot different than your maggies...

The thing that I love about B&W is that they are just so solid at doing everything. Yea there are speakers that have better low end and there are speakers that handle the presence range better and speakers with better midrange. But, IMO and for my listening style and taste there isn't a loudspeaker that does everything as well as a B&W (for the money).

When you say this, do you consider the main media used? Would your reccomendations change if people where using it for gaming/movies only or does B&W pretty much pwn there as well?

They do great at music and great at movies. The first stereo shop I ever went into the guy was telling me that a lot of people buy speakers for their Home Audio and speakers for their Home Stereo. I asked him "If a loudspeaker is designed properly then why would you need two different systems? In either case movies or music isn't the goal clear, clean, true acoustical reproduction?"

He didn't have an answer...

I see your poit, but think about a car analogy.

Both a prius and a corvette are both nice cars...they are just used for different things (going from point a to point b)

Wouldn't some speakers be better geared for one function or another...

But I also see the point of...what is the difference between music in a game or movie vs standalone music...it's music either way.
