i am wanting to deaden my two front doors and roof, my doors are 3 feet long and 2 feet high as in how much i would deaden, so how many layers should i do i figured one layer inner panel, and 2 layers outter panel.

so roughly for front two doors 35-40sq feet, and the roof i am wanting to do at least one layer if not two that would prob be the best way. so figure around 25sq feet per layer so roughly if i did two layers around 100sq feet total.

i could get fatmat or b-quiet extreme for 130 shipped, or i hear raamat is the best bang for buck thats the same price but only 62sq feet and i dont think thats enough to do the job. so what do you think is the best way to go

not shure wich one is wich,

but the kind of sound deadner that is basicly like black tar with aluminum foil over top -

is NOT the kind you want for the roof thats for shure.

I got some of that - and used it on the back side of my rear trim pieces

and in the summer sun - it managed to get hot and melty.

it made a small mess - not as bad as some I have heard about ,

but if you use that type of stuff on your roof - expect it to totaly melt away

and weep down in to your headliner + trim up there.

that would be totaly sucky.

hundreds of threads about this.
general agreement is

1. second skin

2. raammat
ok well i am just looking at b-quiet and fatmat because i can get twice the amount for same price and its slightly thinner than raamat i recaill 45-50 compared to 62mils

go with that. you wont be let down. i used a whole role on my doors and it worked very well. im sure a role would be plenty for your doors and roof. i went pretty thick on my doors.
well my doors the part i will be deadening is around 3 feet long by 2 feet high so rougly 6 sq feet per layer how many layers should i do one on the inner panel and one outer panel or two?? or just do 2 for the outer panel and skip the inner panel.

and the roof how many layers my roof vibrates bad

well in my doors i did 3-4 layers but like i said i went a bit over board. i think a solid 2 layers would be good enough for you though. same with the roof, 2 layers.

and keep in mind that the point of deadener is mass loading (for the most part) so you would want the heavier stuff so the thicker deadener would probably be better. keep in mind just because you have a lot of thin deadener doesnt mean it will outperform less sq ft of thicker deadener.

i hope that made since, im pretty tired right now

get the raamaat.

I put a SHITLOAD of edead deadining in my explorer, which did okay.

but, two rolls of raamat and 7sq yards of ensolite in my new ride absolutely destroyed the edead.

the raamat is the best bank for the buck for sure. you wont regret it.

Do a layer inside the door, a layer on the door to seal all the big holes up, and a layer of ensolite over the top, and you will see a huge improvement.

ok well the fatmat is 100 sqft for 130 shipped 50 mil thick

b-quiet is 100 sqft 135 shipped 45mil thick

raamat is 62.5 sq feet 140 shipped 60 mil thick

so roughly the raamat is thicker but if i am going to use 3 layers with the fatmat or b quiet thats like 135-150 mil thick compared to only being able to do 2 layers with the raamat so 120 mil thick for the doors and then possibly 2 layers on the roof of fatmatt or b quiet so 90-100 mil compared to barely being able to do the roof with raamat with one layer 62 mil thick

not sure which way i should go

also do i need any spray adhesive to apply the deadener

thickness is not always the most important factor, material is very important as well.

Would you rather put a sheet of deadener in your doors, or a 1/4" sheet of styrofoam?

I am going to be soewhat blunt here. I haqve used some of the other products out there and there is NO comparison to Second Skin, the closest thing to it would be Dynamat although the Second Skin has a thicker foil backing which I like better but both of those are the best on the market period the end. You mention doubling up with some other products, now consider that for a second. Your willing to double work for the less than the same results? You also run into the very serious potential of it falling off in 6 months as well, trust me I need to redo my doors in my truck because 70% has come off because I also thought your way at one point. I put 400ft (yes NOT a typo) of SS in my car and it is still rock solid nearly a year later. about a month after using deadener "x" in my truck I applied SS to the back wall and with "x" all falling off, the SS is still rock solid on the back wall. Spend the coin now for a superior product.

ok so if i go with raamat how many layers should i do on my front doors i am using cdt comps on 175rms per side and figure i could get better midbass if i deaden my doors.
