Help me hit >140db with $200

My friend wants a very loud system for right around $200 for the sub(s) themselves. It can either be 1 or 2 subs. Right now we have a lead on a JL 12W6 for the price. Would anything in the price we are looking at even touch the JL as far as sound quality and the loud factor?

jl is not known for output and you will be hard pressed to do a 40 with them without alot of work....

I imagine you are aiming to hit 140 while still being in a daily application? If so, with that budget, cone area will help.

I gave a budget of $200 going in the back of a Jeep Cherokee. He basically wants to be heard for some strange reason. So I told him I would help, just figured that JL would have been a good deal. I am here to listen.

Many people here are against JL for the reason of price. They tend to be more expensive than many online brands. They do make some very nice equipment, but price factors heavily around these parts.

How much power are you going to have available? How much space is he willing to give up?

this..... 2 big things are going to be power and box design/space. i had a 4th order band-pass hit 146.6 with 2-10s and an o/s directed 1100d in an s-10 blazer (similar to the cherokee), but you won't pull that off without the right box and enough honest power. so, basically, the more power, the more options. there are definately many drivers that can blow past a single jl...
