Hey guys.. im REALLY getting sick of having my Rs in an SPL box daily (4.5 cuft @40hz).. you can see why by the graph. i have another box (4.5 @33hz) but its unfinished and a little deep.. hits too close to the hatch and causes too much **** vibration in the panels.

So, im thinking of just saying f uck it and just build a box directed more at SQ. but i dotn knwo if i liek the response the sealed @ .707 gave me.. yeah I KNOW its winISD and you cant go off this much, but i want a flat response, with a strong bottom end.

my question is.. i have a plot on ISD here for a 5.0 cube box with a 25 hz tuning (yeah i really dowant a strong low end). it shows a really flat response.. but what would that do in a car? how badly would it be messed up from this? i would like a flat response, but if i get a peak in the 20hz range somewhere i wouldnt really mind..

this graph shows a .707 alignment (yellow), 5.0 cube@25hz (flat), 4.5 cube@33hz (small peak), and 4.5 cube@40hz (huge peak). which do you think would give me the best results IN my car(for what im lookign for)? spl isnt an issue, im killing my hearing with the spl box, my ears could use a nice break.

ive had enough sharp pain, i want late nite tip to make me sick and teary-eyed hah

In a vehicle, you don't generally need to tune lower than 27Hz as the transfer function of the cabin gives you a boost in the bottom end anyway...

I'd see how they like 27Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Don't go by WinISD for in-vehicle predictions...please.

well i know.. i dotn rely much on winisd ever but this time i want to do somethin specific and dont really want to build many more boxes testing differences in otuput..

and really what i wanted to knwo here was the DIFFERENCE between ISD and real life.. where will i get massive boosts and dips in output compared to the graph.. im sure its different for every car but is there a general rule? liek response goes up as freq does down as compared to the graph?

the 25Hz box will have a big peak under 50Hz because of the 12dB boost in cabin gain.

so then so will the 27hz box right? cause theyre nto far off..

i dotn really want many peaks.. if any i wouldnt mind a peak in the 30 hz range cause i love the notes in the high 20s to mid 30s

try BB6P, it includes cabin gain.

juss tune em low around 30hz and u should be fine, dont go sealed u wont be plz'd wit the output, i kno i wasnt.
only logic thing to do is juss build and test. only way i see gettin the results u want

well... i dotn have enough money to buy several pieces of MDF right now.. so i was trying to just get it close to how i want it.. in not EXTREMELY particular.. obviously i dont even have components yet.. or maybe im juyst poor.. haha either way..

as far as output, i wouldnt mind tryign sealed if it would give me exactly what im lookign for.. my ears feel messed up this morning cause me and soem of my friends were messign with our subs and i had mine up way to loud for way too long... i dotn usually play them past liek 1/4 volume anyways.. i would just have to get used to not being able to show off as much.. but thats fine with me ive shown off enough and im kinda gettin away from that teenager BS anyways.

for any who has heard them sealed...

how was the response?

ive heard a few times that output kinda sucks.. but im looking for better sq..

what sizes and tunings are other people running? anybody who has impressive low end with type Rs tell me how its done.. my 33hz box istn bad btu i was kinda lookin for better..
