ok so i installed my cd burner today and my computer doesnt want to read it it, i tried to install it but it said to connect the hardware and the burner was already connected and everything, the burner opens and closes and the little green light turns on but when i go to windows media player and try to burn a cd it says, there is no cd or dvd burner detected to refresh the burner press f5, and i press f5 and it just keeps on saying the same thing, so can anyone help me

thanks

Most cd drives will work by plug and play, If you have two drives you need to set your main cd drive as master and your secondary as a slave drive, it should tell you how to do this in your instruction manual. If not there the switch is usually a little connecter sleeve that connects two prongs on the back of the drive. Whichever two prongs are connected will specify wether its to be hooked up as the master or slave. You want the master on the first connection closest to mother board, and the slave cd drive on the end. If your only using the cd burner (one cd drive) make sure you have it on master. And if that doesn't work its probably your connection, check that. And check in My Computer (if running windows) to see if it recongnized the drive. Thats if its and internal CD burner. I have no experiance with external drives. Peace

yeah, connections is my guess.. it wont even notice its there? cheak the wire going from the board to the drive. The RED marker, should be showing when its put in, facing right, on the right side....
