got this new windows update from the automatic up date feature. now it wont let me connect limewire. I know i have an internet connection, i am on here now, and I turned off the fire wall but still nothing. so I turned the firewall back on and told it to allow limewire, zero nada nothing. Help.

windows is starting to blow people. if they would have waited to release their software, and made it more bug free you wouldnt have to download automatic updates. but get rid of the firewall if you have it... if you want a firewall., look into Black Ice Defender.

sp2 has messed up so many peoples comps that I know, just be happy its only limewire(u =should be using something else instead of that as well) I know alot of people that cant connect to the internet now and have other things from dling sp2. Its some bs even my comp got messed up. I lost internet explorer and I hate this msn explorer.

well i got limewire to work, just redownloaded it the new service pack must not have reconized it.

Haven't had much trouble with limewire(yet). What should I be using. to "sample music". And yes that is about all I use it for, it is like a radio that I can tell what to play. I like it I buy the CD, I hate it no use in wasting computer space.

The new service pack screws up things when you've got spyware on your comp during installation. I would restore your computer to a different point and clean it up...then reinstall sp2. As far as limewire...it's worthless, unless of course you get limewire pro, which in my opinion is the best p2p out there.

I am not impressed with SP2 it has screwed too many computers up that i have worked on. It is not bad when the computer has a fresh installation of XP on and nothing else. But if there are alot of programs on the computer you might as well forget it.

Yup, I am gona go and put a new HD in mine tonight and reinstall everything, I needed a larger one and now is a good reason why I bought one cause its all messed up for sp2 lol. 2-3 yrs of stuff now I got to back it all up. What a fun time just because windows says u need it.

Not totally true. New security threats pop up all the time and need to be addressed which is what alot of the updates provide.

i just had to do that last night 80 gigs worth of stuff to back up on a wireless network. fun stuff.

true that. Vulnerabilties are found all the time no matter how much beta testing and whatnot. Thats what the hardcore hacker does. Looks to find overflows to exploit. Then when its public, microsoft puts out a patch.

Now about servicepack 2, i have it and its fine for me. The only thing i dont like is all the pop ups about "you dont have auto update on" "you arent using ms firewall". Maybe some people need that cuz there stupid but that stuff is annoying. But anyway it works fine for me
