i have a reg cab silverado, a dd 9512 , audioque 2200d and a aq90x4. the 9512 will be in a center console enclosure. i dont have much room behind each seat . for electrical i plan on using the stock alt and a kinetik 2400 and upgrade the factory battery , doing the big 3 and using 1/0.

my question: on the passenger side under the hood i can fit the hc2400 will it be ok there or does it need to be behind one of the seats close to the amps? keep in mind being under the hood itll be about 5ft from the amps.

As a rule of thumb, the closer to the amps you install the battery, the more power you will see from it. The further away it is, the more wire (read resistance) there will be. You will see a voltage drop over a longer wire. That is why they say you should have them as close as you can.

With proper sized wiring you wont see any difference. My batteries are in the back and my runs are around 4' from them to my amp rack, 5' is not a long run. But i'm questioning your method that you came up with 5'. I would say that your power run would be closer to 8'-10'.

well the second battery will be right against the firewall pass side . like this...

If you use a plastic case battery that close to the engine, make sure you either shield it with some flashing or buy (or fab) a metal battery box. The plastic cases on most batteries will melt that close to an engine.

YEah but unless you are doing Comps hardcore. There Shouldn't be enough drop to bother you.
like ^ said. If its an everyday car and you just want your lights not to dim etc. then you should be fine. but if your real anal about your v dropping, then loopkiller advise best fits you... good luck

Well I am a stickler for details, so many you should take my advice with a grain of salt. I am a by the book kind of guy. Usually there is a good reason for basic info. It would not be the way if it was not necessary. It is a simple fact that the longer your wire is, the more of the voltage is wasted due to impedance. If that does not bother you, then by all means, place the battery where you have room. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well i was thinking if the battery was in the truck it would be behind the drivers seat then run across the back wall to the amp on the other side. so going from the front passenger firewall to the aq2200 behind the passenger seat would only be a couple feet difference. so would 3ft at the most longer honestly make a difference?

could i get by without the hc2400 and just buy two large regular batterys like diehards or similar?
Not in my opinion. You could go with another brand of AGM type batteries, but you may risk shorter lifespans by doing so. The HC2400 is engineered for exactly your application. Flooded batteries are made to start a car, which is a 30 second burst at best.

I know on my 98 the Kinetik 1800's fit perfect on driver and passenger side

and the Powermaster 2400's fit perfect up front as well.

They kinetik 2400 was way to big but will work but It didnt fit in the tray and was almost to tall...
