Help me decide

Hey guys. I am going to put in a new HU in my sisters jetta in a week or so for her birthday. She has a sony one that came with the car and it was a POS, its finally dead lol.

I have had good luck with pioneers so I think I am going to stick with them. One thing that would be very nice is an ipod control, last I researched there was nothing good on the market, everything was limited to playlists and awkward controls for the ipod. It seems this has come a long way in the past year or so.

So, I am either looking at a Pioneer Premier DEH-P390MP which I would need the CD-IB100 II for to make the ipod work.

Or, get a DEH-P4900IB which needs the CD-IB100.

From what I can gather, they do the exact same thing. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between them?

The only thing is it looks like the DEH-P4900IB has a 2 line display that looks a bit bigger, while the DEH-P390MP looks like it has a smaller display which only shows 1 line of text.

What should I do?

i have the 3900 and am happy with it, i don't know as much about the 4900 but from what i gather the display looks a bit cooler. as far as i pod control i went with a mini to mini input, but i like cd's better. don't know if i've helped but i am happy with my 3900... one thing about the 4900 is the rca output voltage is about double the 3900. the eq is the same (3 band parametric) which will be what i will look at when i upgrade...

Well, I really just need something to work, and have good ipod support. The ouput voltage won't matter because this thing just has stock speakers, no subs, etc. Just needs to be a nice HU. She probably can't tell the difference between a 96kbps mp3 vs. a 192kbps lol, so right now I'm not to concerned about how good the EQ is and stuff.

I think I am going to go with the DEH-490IB, the premier version of the 4900. Just because it comes with the ipod cable and I think it has a longer warranty.

Found it on ebay for $135 shipped. Not to shabby.
