My local dealer finally got the compustar pro in today (the new one)! But...my other dealer has had the newest 2-way code alarm (srt-9000) for a couple of months. They're about the same price. Both are two-way systems, and have a 1 mile range, but the codealarm has a rechargeable remote. (not a huge deal, but the only difference I can see). So what would you guys do?

Tried and true codealarm, or new kid on the block compustar?

i would say give the compustar a try cuz i have a code on my car and im not all that happy with it. i have had it for about a year now and for no reason sometimes the alarm would go off, i took it back to cc where i got it installed and they said that there is nothin they can do cuz they think the brain is fryed. also the range on them isnt all that great.

i will not buy another code alarm. actually i think you should look into a viper alarm, i havent heard anything bad about them. python and clifford are also good ones

one that i havent heard of but would maybe be willing to try is called prostar, got some neat little features to their alarms

Yeah, I actually heard a few bad things about the codealarm reliability also, but I was just looking for a little more personal input. Thx for the reply!

Scytek has a really nice remote start alarm with a built in digital camera....
Yeah, that looks pretty nice. Only problem is I neeed that 1 mile range. I had a clifford matrix 2-way, and the range was good, but now I need more. The only two alarms on the market that offer the 1 mile range is the two I listed (I think). Maybe I'm overlooking something?

how do you need more? and dei makes 1 mile range, viper 5900, python 990, clifford matrix 50.5x and they have a few others also. get a dei and if not get the compustar, code alarm sucks, i have had to pull a few out for people.

"Many of you are probably wondering... "What's Zenesis?"

Well, I'm almost certain that you haven't heard about us before.

That's because we have spent the last 14 months in testing and modifying our alarm to work with EVERY single car make and model in North America.

So .. to start.. here's a short history:

Zenesis is made by EASYCAR KOREA ( http://www.easycaralarms.com).

EASYCAR has been making high end alarms for Korea / Japan, and European markets for several years now.

IT is currently the #2 brand after Magiccar (made by Youngshin Electronics, which is the same company that manufactures Compustars). Enough with the history lesson.

What can this alarm do?

We got couple of video clip that might interest you

First of all the shock sensor!

Those are some of the features this alarm has. There is a group buy going on for it on a forum I am part of. I just bought this alarm and just waiting for it to come in.

Any questions about it, let me know.

Heres the forum with the group buy: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=193354

I have the compustar pro system and I'm very satisfied. No problems at all and I wouldn't consider them the new kids on the block. They have been around for a while. My alarm has great range and features, However don't get it twisted you will not ge 1 mile of range out of any of the alarms with those claims. Maybe in perfect conditions with no structures or radio interference. Cant go wrong with compustar. Are you looking at regular pro or the ss model.

NOthings going to give you a mile range.

We used to use Compustar years agos o they've been around a while.

However we install DEI alarms and nothing else. I use their hornet 2 way on everything I own and have no issues with it. I would buy a Viper, python or hornet.

Does DEI have a (supposed) 1 mile 2-way?

And ftr, I do realize that I wouldn't get a mile range out of any alarm - if I got half of that, I'd be happy. So that would mean that the other alarms that offer 3000 ft. range would only do maybe 1500 ft. I just want the best range on the market. I've been waiting for over a year for this compustar pro to come out, and now it seems that codealarm beat them to the punch. So...before I spend $550 to have the compustar installed, I wanna weigh my options (the codealarm is $450, but $100 is not a deal-breaker for the compustar, I just want the best protection for my money). And it seems nobody endorses codealarm yet, so that may help my decision.
