You can save a TON of money on the headunit if you're willing to go used, which I'd highly recommend... but besides 3 preouts, are you looking for anything else in the HU? Aux input, ipod connectivity, CD player, satellite radio ready, hd radio ready, blue tooth? Unless you're willing to go used, you're not gonna find shit for $100:\

If the extra 40 bucks for the more powerful amplifier isn't a huge deal, I'd go for that. You can set the gain lower so your amp doesn't work as hard, and is less taxing on your electrical... and then you have room to upgrade later. So if you decide for that one, you need a D4 sub. I'm strongly recommending the Obsidian in your application.

Yea, are you paying for the pioneers, if so, how much? They're just nothing good, for a few extra bucks you can get some solid speakers.

^ Yea those Cadence are sweet too. They might be a little deep though. Metra lists his front door clearance at 3", and they Cadence are right at 3", so it's pushing it. But, nothing some MDF spacers couldn't solve.

As for the clarion, I'd stay clear of it, but it could get the job done. I'd much rather buy a used Eclipse or OS Alpine. But, if he doesn't mind the Clarion, it does come with the install accessories needed, pretty good deal.

as for the sub, i have decided on a obsidian car audio.

after talking over with some guy he can get me a nice battery for $105 for the hatch if needed ! and the obsidian is cheap , so i would be down for that, if it is 110% needed. now for an amp. the quart looks good should i get one of those?

for 1 sub,

either 1000 watts at 1ohm

or i can go 1000 watts at 2ohms ( 2 different amps) and also 1500 watts at ohms with this one, but the obsidian prob would blow

but that clarion 4 the price is a great deal, remember ur also getting the dash kit wiring kit etc for free. so it is saving u even more money

If you're looking for new speakers, those Cadence are a really good deal. They SHOULD fit, and if they don't, it'll only be by a quarter of an inch or so. So someone on here could make you some MDF spacers to make it fit. If they don't fit and you don't wanna hassle with making them fit, you could easily sell them for like $70 to get all your money back.

As for the headunit, yes, the Clarion is a great deal with what it all comes with, and it's features, but it's just a lower quality head unit. So since you are looking to buy used, don't forget to save the links to the wiring harness and plastic enclosure I posted for it. I was in the market fora week or 2 for a new headunit a little while back and found some phenomenal deals around $100-$150, so I'll see what I can find in a minute here.

Do you care if it plays CDs? Cus Alpine makes some decks That purely do ipod/mp3 compatibility with aux and usb connections, rather than having a CD player installed.

Here's a good eclipse, aux input, but no USB. 3 sets of pre-outs. 5v pre-outs. Cd player. Great condition. Eclipse headunits are known to have some of the cleanest sounding decks around, with great SQ features: Car Audio Classifieds

Here is an older Alpine deck that has barely been used, and is in pristine condition. This is from back when Alpine made the ultimate SQ/tuner decks. You can see I responded in the forum and actually wanted to pick it up Great signal/noise ration, 3 sets of strong pre-outs, CD player, digital time alignment, AUX input but no usb. This is an absolute beast and you can't go wrong with this one, especially at the price! Oh, and the seller is a good guy too, I've talked to him a few times: Car Audio Classifieds

Here is a newer Kenwood unit at a good price. Has the features, 3 sets of pre-outs, aux input, USB connection for thumbdrive or ipod, bluetooth, CD player. Not a bad deal at all. It's a little dusty, but nothing that can't be cleaned up. And if you look on the second page, he's dropped his price to $100 shipped: Car Audio Classifieds
