Help me choose a single budget 15"

Getting "BackAtit" (hardy Har har) and looking to do a little budget build for my trailblazer with a single 15 on likely a new ppi ion 650 watter or similar. (108 bucks not bad)

I would build my box and have 36 length and basically equal depth and height to match. It's a single 15 so over 4 cubes or less of space isn't going to be very huge. Ported obviously.

Subs I'm considering are:

Sundown E (V2 or wait for v3)

American Bass tnt (may need larger amp)

Alpine Type S

CT TROPO

Or just buy a set of used 12s...in a prefab likely cuz that's all that's on Craigslist.

Thanks in advance guys. Glad to be aboard.

Sundown, incriminator, or SSA DCON for 300 rms sub which would work well with that ion amp.

but ide go with an SQ215, 105 shipped and throw 1000wrms at it. I think you will be happier, keeping the budget low of course. Although the SSA DCON on 650wrms would be very impressive im sure.

If you have 150-200 for the sub, theres alot of options and still using a 1K amp.

Edit: oh the lower end soundquebed? I heard they are less than impressive. Seems like the others I listed would be worth the extra 20 or 30 bucks.

And who told you that? The hds2 series is great, sounds like someone did a crap install and blamed the speaker.

Ive been running the 8s for a few days now and i love them, i ran the HDS312 and it was a beast. When i spoke of it here on the forum others stated the hds2 series was more impressive. I have ran JBL, Tantric, Eclipse, Obsidian, and DD subs besides the soundqubed woofers. There are nicer subs for sure, but you said budget and they will not disappoint. I know ill use SQ subs again for future installs, if you wanna get loud on the cheap its your best bet.

I did take it with a grain of salt as you will read bad reviews on any product if you dig far enough. Like you said, could have been user error. That 300 series does look well worth it but I just don't want to run 1200+ rms on this build.

That 105 price tag is tempting though. I will say I will definitely move it into the top 3 on that alone.

I can get the tropos for around 140 but don't know much about ct sounds. The type s alpine had me intrigued as well even though I'm not much on the kicker, rockford, alpine bandwagons.

Sundown e seems to be a solid entry level and seeing skip01 on YouTube hit a 148 with one does sell it pretty well. Though I do think he was pushing it to its limits. I saw the v3 will be out in Q1 of 2016 but at a price of 165. Closer to sq315 price point.

You really cant go wrong with sundown, if you would like to keep the amp at 650wrms it or a SSA DCON is your best bet.

Also look at the FU audio 750 15, it looks dope. USA built
