Dual 12's or single 18"?

I'm looking to upgrade my system with either a second 12 or get an 18. The math shows that the single 18 has slightly more cone area than the 12's. I'm trying to maximize my SPL (loud as possible) I have around 5.5 ft^2 tops to work with for a box. So dual 12's would breathe easy, but most 18's would probably like a bit more room. If I feed them both the same wattage, what should I opt for to get a louder setup?

Yep, 2 twelves.

I think a DC LVL5 18 would work in that space but you better give it all the power. The 12s will be much more efficient in that space.

Yep i would go 12s..... Ive used 18s in 4.75-5 cubes net(after all displacements), but wont have the space after sub, ports etc to run a 18. The Dc Lvl 5 18 could work but your gonna need a bit of power
