Help me build the impossible box...

Just for kicks I thought I'd throw this one past everyone...

I want to put a very slimline box inside this seat back and have it firing toward the rear glass.

I'm not completely opposed to having a small amount of it protruding out the back.

Here's what I did in my Wrangler in the rear seat bottom:

Box built into the seat frame:

Cut some foam out:

Finished product:

In case you can't tell that's the bottom of the seat...so when the seat is down, the speaker is downfiring.

Obviously the seat back in my Cherokee is a bit thinner than the seat bottom of my Wrangler. But I gotta think this is possible.

I HATE glassing...I'm actually trying to go away from glassing on this one since it'll be in replacement to a box I've already done in the cherokee.

What year Cherokee?

Are you doing this because you want the space in the back or just because it's cool?

Just wondering, because there are stealth boxes out there that go in that useless little compartment in the rear on the passenger side that might be easier if you're just looking to save space.

Well...to answer your question I'm doing it for both of those reasons.

I already did the cubby hole sub...see pics:

Hated the process...didn't like the end result much either. It LOOKS good...but sounds like turd.

Which is my fault, I didn't build the box to spec and I'm not 100% sure that it's airtight either.

So I want to start from scratch with a new and different design...and preferable something that hasn't been done before.

what exactly are you expecting from the box to do?

I'm expecting nice tight kick drum bass...vibrate the rear view mirror a bit...feel it in your chest. Hard hitting kick drum bass.

I don't listen to rap so I don't need deep lows...I listen to all rock and metal. But I want it to slam pretty good.
