Help Just installed system now i get engine lag

So I added an 800 watt amp and two 12 subs. Eveything is connected right. Ground is good too. But when I drive my 5 speed 98 jeep Cherokee it feels like it wants to shut off so I have to give it gas then it backfires every now and then and then it is good for a while. So what is the problem here.

there's no dim headlights

no distortions sound coming from my subs

sounds like you have a bad flux capacitor. I'd have that fixed some before it implodes

Maybe you bought bad gas. Maybe your fuel or air filter is clogged. I've never heard of an amplifier causing performance problems...

ok maybe the backfiring is by giving it to much gas... but it feels like it wants to die while im driving... i didnt have this problem before... could it be my alt

try unplugging everything and see what happens?
