Help! I Can't Decide! (Infinity, Adire)

Hello everyone, my first post here:D

Ive heard great things about the Inifinity Kappa 12.1D's, 12DVQ, Adire Bhramas 15 and 12's and Shivas but im confused on which to get

I want to put 2 in a sealed box(except maybe 15's) and have a good balance of SQ and SPL, so can someone give me a reccommendation on a setup?

Ive never heard these live (yet) but i keep hearing good things about them, and that they arent *too* expensive.

Also, can you tell me which subs out of the ones ive named are best for SPL in order? And which are best out of the list for SQ?

Thanks a bunch guys,

-Neo-Tokyo

The Shiva's own the Perfect's in every aspect, in my opinion.

Out of your choices, I'd go with the Brahma.

http://www.stereointegrity.com Magnum D2 seems to be popular, saves you money as well ... many people have swapped out their Brahma for a D2 and liked the D2 better. Brahma, D2, XXX, IDMAX, CMPX2, whatever ... they're all good choices and you'd be happy with the Brahma if it's what you're set on.

Welcome to the forum. A ways back I switched from a dual Perfect (sealed) setup to a single Brahma 15" and could not have been happier. The difference is quite astounding. If money is tight, go with the Shiva's. I've installed many of these and are my favourite budget subwoofer. Destroys the Perfects, aformentioned by Steve, in most every regard save aesthetics.

I see alot of debates on this site, alot of people taking sides with what "they" like. BUT!! I must say I heard..I saw..I was floored by the Infinity Kappa Perfect woofers.

Personally I would have never considered "Infinity" for car Woofer selection. Yet I have owned MANY! home Stereo Speakers and the best by far was a single 10" Infinity woofer..IT ROCKED!!!.

So I investigated them for Car systems.

"I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE SEEN SO MANY POSITIVE REVIEWS AND AMAZEMENT FOR SOMETHING THAN I HAVE THE INFINITY KAPPA PERFECT SUBS". (sound domain has about 20 5 star reviews, GOD's stereo system wouldn't get that many positive reviews!!)

I went to hear them and I was more amazed then expected, and I initially would have never considered them for my Truck. GRANTED we are talking enclosed box single 10"

I hear the SPL debate and the MAX POWER issues..I don't give a ****!

World of diffrence between LOUD "high school parking lot bass" and "clean refined rock star sound quality". which side are you on??

Just to let you know...in my personal experience...the Brahma will whipe the floor with the Infinity in every possible aspect of musical reproduction.

Some of the reviewer's on SoundDomain praise $35 subs over XXX's ... catch my drift?

Nevermind the Brahma, the $125 Shiva completely destroys the Perfect's ...

I must admit I have not heard much of the Brahmas.

Yet I have heard alot (literally) of what some think is better bass.

Got a neighbor kid who has a $500 Alpine Head set, 1000 watts of JL Power and 2 W6 JL 12" subs.......but with stock speakers. Not saying this guy knows a thing about stereos or that his opinion is like some on this site...but him and his buddies think he's got the best system in town.....I wouldn't take it for free.

This is the number one fact I have learned when listening to everyones opinions on AMPS..Woofers...Head sets etc...Ya kinda need to look at the whole of the reviews and use a process of elimination, It is almost like whatever gets the least "bad reviews" is the best product much more than products that get all good reiews..(like JL's) (hmmm....cough cough....Ghetto bass...overated... cough..cough..hhhmmm)

But I will look into the Brahmas..I am still opened to everything!

MY POINT EXACTLY...and some guys praise thier stuff only because it was in a truck in "DUB" magazine. I am in no way saying Sound domain is an authority...just that if no one talks trash..then literally it's gotta be good!

Some guys praise $200 subs and they ****!

but when "eveyone" praises a $150 sub...I pay attention.

especially when most of the positive reviews say stuff like"I was told these speakers would **** and they are better than my old fosgates"..or " I never expected a good sub from infinity but it was the best choice for my $10,000 system"..I mean come on..these are not reviews from in-experienced first timers, these where reviews from guys who make it a mission to try "every component out there". (sounds like I am jocking reviews too much huh) maybe I am a Dork..LOL

Depression - I'm not quite sure what you're point is....I've owned 2 Perfect's before....and while they are nice...they're honestly nothing compared to other, real SQ drivers. Also, as far as JL, why in the world would you consider them "ghetto bass"? In the right install, the W6 (especially the V2 series) will take the Perfect's in both SQ and SPL.

Also...have you ever placed a review on SoundDomain? They edit the shit out of their reviews, and won't even put them up if you completely bash a product. Definitely not a good source for unbiased reviews....

I hear you guys, and I don't neccessarily disagree.

Sound domain may be crap? I don't know. and this thread did get outta topic. But I know what I hear..I know what I see. and I feel that subs get rated too much on theoretical science..not real world proof and people defend thier systems like thier favorite sports teams..not by reality. I mean I have 31 years experience in High performance cars and racing, yet there are kids who think Honda civics are Race Cars....

But current fads dictate they are cool...same with music...and same with peoples favorite..."but not necessarily better" stereo components.

I mean MTV is popular..but thier music sucks...thats not opinion it's fact and such is life and Car Audio debates. Currently (may not be your fault) JL Audio is the Eminem of Subs. just cause he sells albums don't mean he's better than Gangstarr. it's a Fad or atleast percieved that way, so I can't have any faith, especially after listening to them. I don't let MTV tell me what to listen to and I don't let a Magazine spread of Shaq's Escalade dictate my subs. Not that JL's are not good...but "most" buy them for the

Status.

This may be unfair but I see who has JL's around L.A...and I don't think they have alot of taste, just alot of BASS!

I still don't see your point.......Yes, many people buy JL for the "status", but in the same vein, they still make da*n good subs. Granted, they are overpriced, but that doesn't diminish their quality. The JL "fad", as you so poorly put it, wouldn't continue and prosper if the product didn't perform well.

Also, people are supposed to defend their system like they do their sports team. Why would I spend my hard-earned money to say "Holy shit, my system sucks! I just wasted $1000, come and listen!"?

Basically....to get back on topic....the Perfect is not that great of a subwoofer. Good SQ, horrible SPL, and if you send it 5 watts more than the RMS, you will blow it. Trust me. The Shiva owns it in every single aspect.
