im just thinking ahead... if the problems with

my setup are with the amp i would be looking

to go bigger and better than my current amp

to support any future sub changes that i would

make...

so i was looking around and found the

BX1800 at ikesound for 290$ that

seems like a good price for an amp with

that much power... but is it even a good

amp??? ive heard complaints about the

1000 and 1500 watt models not actually

putting out the power... whats another

amp with that kind of power that

would be a better choice even if it cost more???

thanks...

these will take 600 RMS a piece... but if i ever

moved up to a XXX or the RE uberwoofer that

may exist in '05 i dont want to buy something

that ill regret...

i dont need an 1800 watt amp... even the

BX1500 would be enough... but ive heard

some bad things about it not putting out

the power...

well what are GOOD 1500 and over amps???

and when i say good i guess i mean efficient

and rated properly...

well if you can afford to i would just buy anther memphis 1000--i had 2 of those and man i thought they were awesome. those amps will put out 600rms X 1@2ohms. i think you can find those for $340ish on ebay.

i know... it does 1100@1ohm which ive got it on

now... the issue is that i wouldnt be adding an

amp to my setup i would be replacing mine...

so just to get another 1000D would be a waste...

maybe the 1500D though but im not sure if

that one goes to one ohm... even the JL slash

series only go to 1.5 ohm...

ok i see-- you no longer will be using the memphis you have now correct?ok if that the case i would look for something else besides the brutus. i was also gonna go with brutus 1500 but after a lenghty conversation with a guy i TRUST with this stuff he basically talked me out of it because my subs are 700 rms and if that amp pushes 1400 at 1 ohm that would be putting a serious strain on that amp at the high volume levels i like. same should apply to you if you listen to music at a high level your amp will most likely be clipping pretty hard seriously shortening the life of the amp and/or subs. i'm currently searching for an amp that will fit my needs as well.

why did the amp clip at 1400??? i thought

it was rated at 1500... how can you tell if

an amp is clipping???

is it better to run at 4ohms than 1ohm???

typically if have a 1 ohm stable amp there will be less stress on it at 4 ohms than at 1 ohm. its like an engine say that can run at 9000 rpms if you run it at 5000 rpms in theory it should last longer than at 9000rpms. see the relationship?? and the brutus 1500 is rated at 1500 but thats at the top of its performance range so at extended lengths of time some damage could be done.

anyone know how much a memphis PR 1000.1 is???

i dont know... i may look further into that viper 1200.1

i cant afford the JL slash... theres some JBL 2200 thatll

do any ohm also... but thats an expensive *** amp too...

any reason its cheaper than the MC1000D???

also... how are volfenhag amps???

i think ive decided i dont want to spend a lot of

$$$ now... i want an RE 36.1 eventually... if

they are somewhat reasonable...
