HELP! Going Crazy!

I'm pretty much at wits end and need some serious advice. I keep getting a hundred different recommendations from people from different places and it's getting frustrating.

Here is the situation.

Stock Alt: 105 Amps

Amp 1: AudioQue 1200D - 1200w RMS @ 1 Ohm

This is rated at 14.4v so I'm not sure what kind of power it puts out at 12.8v.

Amp 2: Visonik V2208 75w x2 RMS @ 4 Ohm

I assume this is rated at 14.4v as well.

I want to avoid dimming lights and straining of the electrical system as much as possible but don't know what exactly I should do.

I came to find out that the only HO alt I can get is a $399 rhino series but that is WAY out of my budget.

I've been told I'm going to need the alt, and I've been told to just get a couple batteries and that the alt is completely unnecessary.

I'm afraid that if I don't get the alt, even with two decent batteries, on deep notes, there will be a very noticable light dimming and drop in volume. This will bother me like crazy.

What the **** should I do?!? I'm trying to spend the absolute bare minimum without putting absolute shit in my car.

Please, be as descriptive and complete as possible, right down to wire gauges and models of batteries.

I've spent hours and hours every single day researching the best solution and haven't come to any conclusions and it's DRIVING ME NUTS.

Save me.

Crazy, I just can't sleep

I'm so excited, I'm in too deep

Crazy, But it feels alright

Every Day and Every Night

CHORUS

You Drive Me Crazy (You drive me crazy baby)

Ohh..Crazy, But It Feels Alright

Baby Thinkin of you keeps me up all night

Baby Thinkin of you keeps me up all night

just go get a good powercell like a kinetick 2400. set the battery in your trunk. run the big 3 if you want. the big 3 may or may not be effective. in my case it wasn't.

either way, just get the second battery. with it, you will be fine with the dimming issues. if you don't want to get a second battery or an alt. then get an HID kit. HID kits don't dim, but all your other lights will.

What about the loss of power due to the voltage drop. How does running more batteries prevent voltage drop?

Also, won't additional batteries strain the already weak alternator?

you'd be surprised how much you could squeeze out of a 105 amp alt.. remmeber music is dynamic..

just do the big 3, which makes a huge difference, and then i wouldnt worry about it.. maybe FULL tilt youll dim a little but it should be negligable, if anything use the money and get a more powerful 4 channel amp and bridge the channels instead of runing 75 x 2, and if you still have issues just grab another battery.. you shouldnt need a HO alt

i ran probaly about the same if not more power than that.. and i have an 85 alt amp.. with very minor dimming issues..

Okay, that leads me to a couple more questions.

How will the voltage drops affect the sound on powerful notes? Am I overestimating the power/volume loss?

Is it better to run 2 decent batteries, or a stock battery and a good battery?

What kind of wattage differences are we looking at between 14.4v and 12.8v?

Is 2 gauge enough for the big 3 and the connections between the batteries?

I agree with Etac. Do the big 3 wire upgrade first. I had an 85 amp alt running a hifonics 1606 and a 4*60rms amp and had dimming until I did the big 3. Afterwards no dimming:) If that does not solve it then add the battery.

2 gauge is fine, if you don't plan on any upgrades. If you wanna get super-cereal about it later, you'll have to replace the wire anyways. But daily only, 2 guage should work fine. I would; however, use 0/1 to connect the second battery if that's the route you choose.

This guy is right. Try one thing at a time, because if the extra battery is unnecessary, then you've saved 150~200 bucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2 gauge will be enough, short distance

EDIT: after typing what i wrote i shoudl of realized this... if you need a better battery.. buy a dry cell sealed battery.. put it in the front.. if its not enough.. put it in the trunk and put the stock one in the front.. (so you dont die) and if you still need more, buy a better front
