if it is the premium sound you need to connect the remote lead from your headunit harness to the blue wire on your explorer harness. This will turn on the factory amp and then you will have sound.

 
If it's not the factory amp you are lacking ground. I have seen a couple that the ground is shit. Run the round wire from the HU to metal, not to the harness and see if that helps. But only do this if you don't have the factory amp.
