Hope this is thr right place for this.

We're having trouble with a friends car. I need help from you guys. He had a stock battery in front of his 98' Neon, and a Kinetik in the back near his Sundown 1500D. I got him to buy DEKA 9A31 to put in the back and move the Kinetik up front.

Now since we put the DEKA in, every time you turn the volume past around 8/35 the amplifier goes in to protection. I've re-done all the grounds at the amp and up front on the kinetik with big 3 all with 0 gauge.

I can not for the life of me figure out why this thing keeps going into protect. Could it be something on the sub loose or is the amp going out..or?

Help???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

pulls the sub out and check the wiring. it could be shorting out. had that happen with an SX that i had with a fi recone. the wire terminal came loose and had the nut fall off allowing the tinsels to make contact to the basket. at a certain volume it wold just hop into protect.

Get a volt meter and check your voltage at the power input of the amp.

What does it show with everything turned off?

What does it show with the car running?

What does it show with the amp turned on?

What does it show when turning volume up to 8?

DMM shows car off the voltage rests at 12.97v, car on idling voltage is 13.7v's to 13.9v's, and when you go to turn the volume up, voltage doesn't drop at all on the DMM except to around 13.6v.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif Checked my ohm load, it shows correctly, not running or anything.

I'm going to pull the Sub today and make sure everything is still tight, being it is a fresh re-cone. Hopefully nothings arc'ing and shorting out, but thank you for the suggestions guys, I'll keep you updated when I pull the sub later today.

Even if I turn gain from 1/4 to 0 it still does it.

I regrounded every ground, and did the big 3 up front. All connections are tight and solid grounds to the frame with 0 gauge.

I'll try and see if something on the sub came loose, I'm not sure...I really hope this is it, because I've got finals in TBP on Sunday and USACi in a couple weeks.
