I am still trying to decide on a headunit for my new SQ system and all I have managed to do is confuse myself even more:crying. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif I looked at the following Eclipse HU: CD5000, CD7000, CD8445 but I cannot tell the real differences between them even after reading about them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif Can some one break this down for me. I am trying to compare them between the Pioneer DEH-880PRS which I pretty much understand everything about. This is what is going in my 06 F250 crew cab which will be challenge in itself. I already have everything listed below.

Headunit ?????? I am open for suggestions just please give a decent reason.(Clarion, Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse any of these brands)(Kenwood-not my fav., NO! Nak)ARC FD2200

ARC FD4150

ARC FD1200.1

ARC MX-3

ARC MEQ-30

Rainbow Profi Vandium CS365

ARC FD12V4 if I can get it to fit, but already bought it. May have to switch it to 10 or complete brand change.

HELP!!!!!!!! Brian

why no clarion?

i'd buy a used clarion 835 or so for like free on ebay

(i've bought two in the last couple weeks...)

with the other stuff you have, all you really need is an awesome pre amp signal

No I like Clarion alot. I have one in my wifes Expo. The thing is awsome the music catcher works great and dual zone is awsome with movies going. I do not care for Kenwood that much used them before to. Not a Nak fan had buddies that had them, when they work they are great but when they break another story. Got reason for a specific headunit just looking for options and info . Everyone has there FAV brand. I have never owned an Alpine product ever but have nothing against them.

I planned on using the ARC MX-3 which gives me the ability to go 3-way active already. I also am using an ARC MEQ-30 which gives the ability to do any EQing you would want. So is all the additional processing even neccesary. I was thinking if I just had the time alignment capability I should be covered. The 880 and CD500 have this so which time alignment is better between the two. The CD7000 is still going for around the 450 range and the 880/CD5000 can be had for under 300 easy.

Looking at the Eq adjustment of both seems redundent as I am using the MEQ-30. The 880/CD5000/CD7000 will all do 3-way active is what I am tracking. But the MX-3 is a 3 -way active set-up all be it in a stand alone unit. So is there really a need for a headunit that even does active, other than having an additional option to cut out the MX-3 if desired one less piece of equipment?

Just my thoughts as I work through this final piece to complete the package.

Yes I now there a 100 questions on this forum about all the different head units but I have not seen anyone trying to run the same set-up as I have proposed.

Yes this is my first time with active set-up and any ARC equipment.

Any more input would be great.

The CD5000 has preset settings for the time alignment.......no good. If you want to be able to set your own settings, you are better off getting another unit.

The 880 will give you everything you need if not more than the 7000 but it costs alot less.

Disclaimer: I'm a Pioneer fan so take what I say with grain of salt. But I wasn't lying about the 880.

Still looking. The CD5000 and 8445 are out. So down to the CD7000 and 880. Has anyone used the Clarion DXZ955MC. To all Clarion fans I did check out the DRZ9255 not in my price range a refurb is still going for $600+. Thanks for everyones input I am getting down to decision time. Wish I had the cash to buy several different ones and test them out(give a review)but I don't.

I have a CD8455 and to use time allignment properly you'll have to go 3-way active. Using your other xover will only allow you to do time allign. for left to right only compared to time allign each speaker seperatly. I didn't like the fact on the 8455 the EQ DID NOT effect the sub output. The newer ones (7000, 7100) you can. I now have a Pioneer Premier P980BT and love it. The only prob w/it I find, is no matter how harn/much I try, I can't get the time allign right w/this one. I thought at one time the only 2 brans of HUs I'd ever own would Be Clarion no1 and Eclipse no 2, but Pioneer has changed my ways a bit. Go for the 880 and utilize that dual 16 band eq.

I had the CD8455 and I was able to get full control of my front & rear speakers, as well as the sub with the time alignment feature. I used in it Pro Mode, under the 4sp + sub settings. It also gave me the ability to use different PEQ settings for the front and rear speakers, as well as have different x-over points for the sub, front, and rear outputs.

So if you run any of the T/A HU listed with the MX-3 your only going to get T/A left and right not each speaker because you are using the external MX-3 for your active set-up and not the HU. This is my first active set-up so I cannot answer that one. Can anyone else chim in here and confirm or deny this theory. If this is true can someone explain why this is. This confuses me a little.

OK, it has been decided. I wound up with nothing I listed. I got ahold of Eclipse 8455 in like perfect condition.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif Thanks for everyones input. Brian
