Help designing dream setup :P

Well, I'm nearly finished installing a setup for a friend, and he told me that if this system goes out, he wants to upgrade it to something better, he also said that budget isn't too much of a problem, as he can start saving pennies now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

His trunk space goes at 16 cu feet, so he has plenty of room for a box. He also mentioned that he would like one 15"

So, my question is: Because he listens to "dubstep" and "rock" what 15" sub would work good, ported for spl?

My honest guesses, were Orion, PB, and sundown. Any suggestions?

I have a feeling that SKAR will shine in this area. Rock in a broad sense and Shitstep are two totally different genres, and music and SPL are two totally different categories. You can sound good across different genres, but once you get into different categories you start to suffer. SQ != SPL.

I wish you would of stated your budged, but I suggest two of these in a ported box at around 32-36hz. Since most people have airspace for two twelves but not two fifteens and want that extra cone area.

SKAR Audio VVX-12

If you have more money we can go higher, or we can go budget.

Lol! So, what would it be called? SQ? I'm more of a sealed/sq guy, and he is more into the muddy/trunk rattling bass.

Two twelves would be perfect, I usually go with 2 less over one big, but I assumed that one 15 would provide "louder" bass b/c it would hit lower than a 12.

So, the scars look great, but just for the heck of it, What would you recommend for a single 12"

After looking at the numbers, I think it would be wiser to go with Obsidian. I'm not letting my personal issues with SKAR audio get in the way, it's just that it's cheaper and I know how they rate and build their woofers. Plus, they are "flatter".

If you're going with a single woofer, go with a 15". Not a twelve. But I'm sure you already know that. Don't get mixed up with that whole "small woofers have better transient attack."

Oh, I definitely will! Right now I'm just trying to line out which 12" single or 12" dual sub to use so I can get a box built for the sub, and line an amp up.

I'm liking the scars, but would they fare the same in a single setup? Also, do you think they are the best bang for the buck, in terms of what he wants, and what style he likes?

where in nor cal are you ,i'm on the central coast area, but i'm the ascendant dealer for the sf bay area, also the norcal dc rep.i listen to alot of rock and an occasional rap and i run 12" mayhems x 2in my truck and they do the trick just fine for me.how much power does he want to run ? that will help out alot also.
