Help choose shallow mount sub!

To port it, I just need to use some PVC pipe right? How do I figure how long to make the port and stuff? Also, I hear you guys talk about tuning your box, how do I make sure mines tuned properly for this sub?

PVC pipe will work. I like to spend a little bit and go with flare precision ports form parts express.
When they say tuning they are referring to the frequency at which a ported enclosure is aligned to. The length of the port depends on the volume fo the enclosure and the frequency you are trying to tune to.

I think that sub would sound good in 1.5 Cu. FT(net) tuned to 32hz. If using a 4" port then the length would be 18". You have to add the displacement of the woofer and port to determine the boxes gross internal volume.

If you wanted more SPL out of it vs SQ then 2 Cu. FT(net) tuned to 41 would give you a bump in output, but low end extension would suffer. In this tuning scenario your 4" port would be 7" in length.

I stay away from JBL. I've had various subs of theirs fail on me. Cone and surrounds separating. Tinsel leads breaking in two. Unless you can afford their power or GTI series don't bother. The GTO, loud and clear series are cheaply made.
Dude, the Loud and Clear series were 12" $50 subs. They were actually the first subs I even owned. I didn't expect much, and that's pretty much what I got, but they never failed on me.

Hey folks!

I new here and just saw this thread.

I have a question.

What do you guys think about putting some of these shallow mounts on the rear doors of a Honda Ridgeline?

I'm sure this has been done before but,

I can't seem to find and threads on "subs in doors"

What do you think? Do they sound good in doors?

Or where should I be looking in this forum?

Thanks in advance
