Help choose shallow mount sub!

I was looking at the illusion audio ones, but I heard they were expensive, I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere though?

They are presently not in production. So, your only hope is to find one on ebay or in the classifieds of various forums....

And while I wouldn't call them "expensive", they are definitely not cheap, and likely out of your price range given what you've stated thus far in this thread.

Though they licensed the technology to Planet Audio a few years back. Though PA no longer produces that style of subwoofer anymore either, if you can find them on ebay they should be comparatively cheaper than the Illusion subwoofers. They are not "the same" subs, but the PA's have the same mounting depth and are still pretty decent subwoofers.

That one you just posted, it's relatively cheap (only $70?). Is it better or worse than the Pioneers? I'm new to car audio, so I don't know if it's one of those really good "underground" brands that only the cool kids have or something >_>

I can't seem to find the shallow JBL sub, but I did find a few shallow mid-size speakers :/

And I still don't really know what the best sub to get would be.

Pioneer 12" vs Exile 10" vs Lorentz Audio 10" vs JBL? I just want good sound quality and decent SPL. So long as it can hit the low notes pretty good and not be all distorted.

You gotta take shipping into account, aswell as it being one of the more higher end shallow mount subs available for low power applications.

I like the specs and review for the earthquake SWS. I can't fins T/S on the Clarion, so I haven't been able to model that. I think the earthquake would be the most versatile as far as what boxes it can go in. It even works good for IB, which the rest fail at. Of course thats just judging by the way WinISD predicts their behavior. The Exile looks like it would rock in a nice ported enclosure though.

I'm still considering either the Earthquake or the exile, it's probably going to come down to price. The lowest I've been able to find the SWS-12 for is $201 w/ shipping, and that's a bit more than I want to pay, but I may can stretch it that far. I found that on ebay, do you guys know of any stores that may have them cheap?

Well, I emailed exile and I can get the Xtec 10 for $150 with free shipping, looks like that's what I'm getting. Hope it's better than the Pioneer >_

Put that in a small ported and I'm sure you will be happy. Thats not a bad price either.
