HELP! Cd player turns off when volume turned high!

Heres the story. I had an Alpine headunit (9845 I think) installed in my last MR2 along with new Kenwood speakers and a Bazooka tube. I took everything out of that car and put it in my new 2 and during the install I found out that the PO had removed the stock wiring harness and wired their aftermarket cd player all crazy! Anyways, we managed to get everything hooked up and working, everything works fine, but during the install we blew a fuse in the frunk (the Dome/etc. fuse), so we replaced it and everything seemed fine. Now the headunit works fine but when I get the volume up pretty high (like to 22-23) the entire unit turns off and about 2 seconds later turns back on! Whats going on? Does this have something to do with the fuse we blew or what? I like to play some of my music fairly loud so keeping it at a lower volume just isnt going to cut it. Any help is very very much appreciated!

Bad ground maybe? Constant 12+ volts to the power wire? Seems that the HU isn't getting constant sufficient juice.

I've seen this problem before, its usually a power issue since theres no way the radio is overheating that fast, I would diffently consider a bad ground first, If you blew the dome lights most likely you blew the constant or your dimmer fuse, possibly your ground is pulling power from the dimmer ground. best way to check this problem out is to bench test it. use a battery in the garage and hook it straight up and connect a couple speakers, just jerry rig it and see what happens. If it does it then, well its your unit, another good idea would be to use a volt meter on your hots and see what you have.

i had the same problem with my 9815.. it turned out my battery sucked... shitty or discharged batteries can't supply the demanded current of the head unit...
