Help Building A Sq System

First off pg stuff isnt crap. They have had a few problems here and their, but that expected with new released products. The xenon is hardly crap. Another thing if you havent heard it, then you couldnt call it crap. But since you mention the idmax, then I will put the elite against it any day of the week, and win, and yes ive heard both.

Yea I may be geared more towards pg, but everyone else on this forum seems to be geared towards re, or pa. We all like what we like, but the point is pg isnt crap, and I would back up any good company if someone were to bad mouth them.

the leds make it sound better but here is a little sumthin for you mac run an idmax in about any box you want (even ib) and have excellent sq. i heard the elite it isnt "that special its good but...and i know of 3 dealers that dropped pg within the last 3 years 2 were over the xeon series going up in smoke. sure they might have fixxed it but like soundstream (10.0) its a long road back.

The Titanium Elite Series isnt made by Phoenix Gold btw. I'm not sure on the subs, but the comps are made by Morel Israel IIRC. I wasn't impressed with the Xenon subs when I heard them, I'd say it is on par with the ID series subs.

EDIT: I didn't do a full sonic review on those Xenons so don't bash me if I sound way off.

But back on topic... As far as a good SQ system goes, you'll do fine with most half decent equipment is you just install it properly and get that stage sitting right on your dashboard. I'll +1 the vote for an IDMAX, or maybe one of the many used SI Magnums that are going to hit the market soon.

pg isnt gone like soundstream. They have fell a little, but have hardly fell off like many other companies have. Their subs still have that old pg sq that was their in the early 90's. I should know because I have alot of the old, and new subs lying around. The sound hasnt changed, one bit. The reason why pg has been hated on so much recently is because of the cosmetics of their new amps, and subs, which has nothing, I repeat nothing to do with sound quality what so ever. Ive owned the tantrums, titaniums, and im now working on a loud daily system with 4 octane zr 12s, and I will tell you that the new subs, and amps sound just as good as the old ones. Yes people may yap on about how they wish the titaniums were still here, and I will tell you I wish they were here also, but the titanium souned no better than the new xenons. This is often why many dealers have dropped them. And another thing have you heard it powered correctly. The elite is very ineficient, and it works best off 1500-2000 watts, but when it gets it, it sounds much louder, and better than my old w7 12 I had imo. I never said the id wasnt a good sub, I know it is. Nothing against jl either, I sell them, and they are great.

Ive heard both the xenon 12" sub and 6.5" xenon components. A JL 12w6 will hand the xenon 12" its *** in both SQ AND SPL, no doubts there. The sub had problems going into sub 35hz frequencies in the rec. sealed box with 600wrms, so dont feed me any bull shit about the wrong box...

The 6.5" components ran off a 100x2 xenon x100.2 sounded ok. Midbass was nice, still lacking though. The tweeter, OMG, sucked horribly. Sounded way to muffled and we even tryed reflecting them off the glass to brighten them up a bit and nothing...

Theres my honest review, and i think PG is a great company but they screwed up on the Xenon line.

And your point is what? I can start quite a long list about some brands that have equipment produced for them via other manufacturers...here a few for you to chew on:

eD amps are produced by Avionixx

Arc Audio KAR and eD subs are produced by Image Dynamics

Sound Splinter subs used 90% of the same parts as the RE subs

The new CDT 07 series comps utilize a Vifa made tweeter

Back in the day I had a set of ///Alpine 6062 comps, in which the driver was produced by DynAudio

eD comps (at least earlier versions) were the exact same as the CDT Audio speakers

USD Audio has DynAudio produce thier xover units for the waveguide comp sets...

I could go on and on...
