Help Building A Sq System

i have been wanting to build a really nice sq system in the wifes car for a while now...i can get a focal utopia 3 way set for 375 shipped minus the tweeters cause he can not find them...

should i go with those or can you guys help me on another brand... i have a monster of s stereo in my car and just wanted to go with some thign in hers that would really bring out all the sounds in music...

im thinking around 500 watts or so to some nice subs as well as another 500 or so to the interiors... so i would like some help in the sub dept to...

any 12" sub with 500rms and xbl^2 in a sealed box will do actually the sub amp will matter just as much as the sub itself when it comes to SQ

I beg to differ. There are plenty of excellent sounding subs that don't use XBL^2. I would hardly make that a "requirement".

thanks for all the comments...i am still fairly new to car audio and i have mostely all jl audio in my car so thats why i wanted some suggestions for some other stuff...

myvanpounds--what amp do you recomend to do the 500 watt rms??

as far as the interiors i have a old school memphis amp here and a old ppi amp i got aa while ago i would have to look on them to see what model #s they are... or i can get a mcintosh amp from the same guy i can get the focals from

IDQ12s are good SQ subs and have reasonable prices. Im running 1 with a jl 500/1 amp at its sounds great

look into Oz Audio Matrix Eliete (i think) \\ Image Dynamics IDmax

some great SQ woofers that have been prooven many times. ~25mm Xmax too.

if you got the dough and the room - dynaudio 3-ways look pretty impressive.

I agree that Image Dynamics IDQ series subs are some of the best SQ subs out there...hands down.

but i can still beg to differ that the idmax is of higher quality than pheonix golds new crap they have been releasing.

First off pg stuff isnt crap. They have had a few problems here and their, but that expected with new released products. The xenon is hardly crap. Another thing if you havent heard it, then you couldnt call it crap. But since you mention the idmax, then I will put the elite against it any day of the week, and win, and yes ive heard both.
