I need to know the best way to build a box for my two 15" Tempest subs. They asrent in yet but I want to have an idea of what to build before they get here. I was told that I want the box to be 9 cubic feet for best performance, is this true? Also, the dimensions of my 93' Ford Taurus' trunk are: 19" tall, 39" wide, and about 24" deep. The acutal height of the trunk is 20" but I want some clearance right? I can go a little deeper if necessary but I dont want to take up the entire trunk. I am planning on making this box ported as well so I will need to know how to figure that out. Also, I have heard of people firing subs up, down, towards the seats, away from the seats, etc. What do you guys think is the most effective way to fire? Thanks for the great help on the forums!

i run 4 cubes/sub before displacements @ 25-30 hz i have found that sounds the best in my aplication and i have been through some boxs

you could maybe cram a box that big (9.1 cubes total with port brace and subs) in that area

Supa_C told me I should talk to you, do you have any advide on which way to fire them? He also said to make the box about 9 cu. ft., is that the best way to go?

I have 15"s in my 92 Taurus, the box I have is 36.5" X 17" X 16" (Width / Height / Depth). It's just BARELY able to fit in the trunks recession (That little space starting at the wheel wells and back). That's 5.75 cubic feet.

I've had the best SQ pointing them towards the front, or straight up.

Just my 2 cents, but if you want 9 cubic feet, you're basically giving up your trunk. I hope it's worth it.

well, is your box ported? I have been figuring out dimensions and I think I can get a 9cu, or close to it box in the recession and still have a bit of trunk space left. If I face my subs to the back, what can I use to protect them from getting damaged while stuff is in the back?

Make the biggest box you can and PORT THE HELL OUT OF IT. Tempests rock in huge ported boxes.....I have tons of experiences. I usually do about 4.5-5 cubes after all displacements for one with a HUGE port tuned low... I like 28hz. Fire them forward and ry to block off as much as the trunk as you can so that no wavs get to the back of the trunk because they will cause a barely noticeable amount of cancellation when coming back in contact with the wavs trveling forward.
