2 12" JL W3v2's vs. 2 12" RE SE

i suppose its an unfair question... but the

JL's and SE's are so popular around here

i hoped that someone would have heard

them both and could offer an opinion...

RE told me the SX were more for SPL

and the SE's were more for SQ... unfortunately

i have no way to hear a SE without buying it...

hows the SQ on your SX??? would it compare

to a JL W6v2???

I have had both and the price is about the same but the RE SE is a much stronger, louder woofer. They handle twice as many watts and the output is much more as well, do the high excursion(xmax). The SQ was about the same. I would go ahead and order it, you will not be disappointed.

They sound great the SQ is just as good, it is even better at higher volumes. The W3's cone is not very stiff and it starts to flex at higher volumes. When I ordered my Re SE 12 the guys there said it was very close to the JL 12W6v2 except it handleds more power and gets louder while maintaining SQ.

a few more posts like that and im going to have to make

a phone call...

and soooooooo much cheaper than w6v2... so how do you like your RE SE's???

what did you have before???

Before the RE SE 12: I had a 10W7, then two 10W3v2's, then a 15 inch L7.

I love it, for the money it is the perfect sub for me. Go ahead and place the order, if I recall you have the 12w3's in a sealed box that may or may not be too small for those subs......for the SE 12 RE recommends that if you use a sealed box that it should be in a 1 cubic ft enclosure, the 12W3 says that it needs about 1.25. In other words the SE will work better in a smaller enclosure.

You will be able to wire two of these down to 1 ohm and fully utilize you amps power. This set-up will handle twice as much power and easily be twice as loud. IMO

holy cow youve had a lot of subs... and seem to have a lot

of experience with JL's...

i do have 2 JL w3v2's right now... and they do sound great...

but when i try to push them that last little bit more... it just

becomes a mess... the SQ goes down and it starts to struggle

and ugh... i think yesterday i finally got it to be about as good

as it can be...

hopefully itll be good enough for me to convince my buddy to

take the subs off my hands...

nope, I am in healthcare consulting.

I am just anxious to see what you say after hearing the possibly new set-up.

It would be llike running 2 12W3's with a JL 500/1 then going to 2 12W7's with a 1000/1. This is the difference you will experience.

the SE's would give me the chance to really USE my amp...

i dont want to sacrifice SQ for loudness though... im in enough

hot water with the factory head unit that i REFUSE to

take out...

are you really saying the SE's would have SQ like a W7???

cause arent the W7's very good for SQ???

People will argue this all day but from what I could tell the SE and the W7 were very close on SQ. The only way to really tell is to hook up a SE and W7 in your trunk at the same time and have a switch and go back and forth between the two on different songs and see what you think.

You will not be sacrificing SQ. Just becasue a sub plays loud does not mean you are losing SQ, the W7 and many others have proved this. I will tell you this, when you play those w3's to the max you are losing sq.
